UT Dallas Transfer Consideration

Hey y’all! I’m thinking about transferring to UT Dallas. Currently, I’m a general business major at Stephen F. Austin, but I’m probably going to change my major at some point really soon, likely to IT. I hear that the IT program is solid at UT Dallas and the campus is very nice, pretty much all state-of-the-art. I’m currently taking 16 hours sitting at a 3.4, but if i fall off on one of my classes and drop to a B, then it’s a 3.2, but i think it’s mathematically impossible to go below that at this point. I’m really close to an A in another class so if i keep it up then it’s a 3.6. So let’s say i finish the semester with a 3.4. Would I have a chance? Also, I’m hearing impaired, so would that affect my admission chances in any way?

You have an assured admission if you have 42 transferable hours with a GPA over 3.0. If you are trying to transfer before the 42 hours it becomes a reviewed admission which is closer to a freshman admission procedure. They will want to look at your HS stats as well as what you have done at college. With your current GPA, you are fine. The big question is how many hours do you have - are you in your first semester? If so, your HS stats become important. UTD’s average ACT scores are 26/32 and 89% of all admissions are in the top 50% of the class. Being hearing impaired should not affect your chances unless it has caused you problems that you have had to overcome. Again, similar to applying as a freshman and explaining these issues thru an essay or thru your recommendations. I would think they would take that under consideration but only in a positive way.
