UT-McCombs v UC Berkeley-Econ

which is better for overall academics and prestige? I know berkeley itself is on a whole other level, but i'm referring to the specific programs in this case.

UT-McCombs is a very well recruited school, while UCB Econ is sometimes thought of the place for all the kids that got rejected by Haas. Another good thing about McCombs is that you can choose a wide range of business majors. While at UCB all you can do is Econ unless you can get into Haas.

UT McCombs > UCB Econ in terms of program prestige.

kingjames.. the op is asking for overall academics and prestige. i'd say any program at uc-berkeley is more prestigious than ut-mccombs. berkeley is considered one of the best public universities and it is well-known all throughout the world.

no I meant what I said. UT-McCombs v Berkeley Econ. sorry to confuse you forgiven, I guess what I'm asking is does the prestige of berkeley make up for not having a bba, but a BA in econ. I want to compare the programs not the schools.

Are you a CA resident or a Texas resident?

If you haven't heard, there is a UT McCombs Honors Program, which is excellent for job placement but also difficult to get in.

unless you're shooting to work for some west coast tech company i'd do mccombs.

Then again dcfca, you most likely will be getting a job in Texas or surrounding states if you go to UT Austin. In terms of what school I would choose, my preference would be Austin because it is cheaper (for me at least) and similar to the academic level of Berkeley. However, you really cannot go wrong with either school; both are excellent institutions.

texas is for queers and steers

berkeley is definitely more prestigious.

Overally it is yes, but again both are excellent institutions, and depending where you work will ultimately determine the extent of how prestigious the institution is regarded of.

"texas is for queers and steers"

Like Indiana has anything better to boast about.

Berkely will serve you better long run.... as far as name.. but in Tex im sure UT Austin has a great name... if it were me... id go to Berkley, even it is more expensive
