I totally understand the need for senior grades, if grades are questionable. In my son’s case, he has all A’s (or A+) over his first three years. Grades were not the problem. I’m not sure how senior grades will help his file. Unfortunately, I think my son’s SAT scores may have held him back. Nothing we can do about that now. He’ll send in mid-year grades and hope for the best. I know he’ll end up at the perfect school - wherever that is.

ljrfrm, that’s what we have to keep repeating to ourselves, and it is true. My D was accepted to UVA, which is her first choice. My S, who is a junior, is in love with a different school now, but may not be as competitive as he needs to be. I plan to repeat “he’ll end up at the perfect school” over and over, while making sure we find about 6 “perfect schools”! :D

Does anyone know the percent of students deferred that get accepted during the regular application process? Or a guess? I can’t find anything online.

OOS, top 10%, 35 ACT - deferred; very disappointing

my daughter’s application was deferred but had her Jefferson Scholar interview today. Now what? i’m so nervous. Good luck to all those who applied to UVa and was nominated for the JS!
