Hey folks, this isn’t really the place to reach me. I’m not able to check in on College Confidential regularly. You can get to me via my social media accounts, but there may be a delay in getting reply…applications come first!
There is a dean on call to answer questions by phone during business hours, as well. That’s the fastest way to talk to us!
I have a question regarding the UVA EA decision process. How do they defer/reject applicants? For example UNC either accepts denies or waitlists during EA, whereas Michigan either only accepts or defers. Does UVA practice either of these methods or one in between the two?
I like that better - if it’s a probable denial I would rather know that as opposed to remaining hopeful, therefore delaying the disappointment. UVA is D21’s dream school, but we are OOS - midwest large city, most competitive private school in our area, 4.0 UW, many leadership roles, EC’s, debate x 4 years, non-profit founder. We have family in VA and plan to move there in a couple years, but unfortunately that doesn’t matter at this point with regard to in state-status. It’s such an amazing school. Good luck everyone! Fingers crossed.
Michigan also denies EA candidates.
UNC made the switch to accept, deny and waitlist only for this year (I assume due to the large increase in applications), in the past they have accepted, denied and deferred
Hi! I was wondering if anyone knew how much legacy plays in decisions? I’ve heard some say it barely matters and others saying it’s a huge advantage. I’m OOS if that matters.
As the parent of an OOS legacy student (now a second year) it is definitely a boost for OOS applicants. Historically admission rates have been comparable to IS and in some years higher than IS.
