UVA Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

Just got something on my to-do list for the first time: FAFSA 16-17. Did anybody else get this because I know I submitted my fafsa in the first week of January and none of my other colleges had any issue with it. Also I got a wait-list decision from that link. Very confused about the to-do list not sure if this has any significance.

@Raygan10 I doubt that as well. McIntire is a more expensive program (around 30k) and I doubt they would give enough grant money to get to as low as 5k. Unless they are not including the 15-20k you’d take out in loans.

@Jouuuu I did off campus so they wouldn’t put me in a transfer dorm. Rather just meet people in apartment through fbook or something

When is the release of decisions? Someone said 2 days… But I thought it was May 1.

@intergrity23 Where are you guys seeing the "waitlist’ or accepted thing? Mine only says completed

@Blessed21 There was a link someone on here found a while back and different people got different pages. Check back to earlier posts around 40s-50s I believe.

@UVAfan23 I can’t photoshop things. I screengrabbed a gif that I literally could not doctor. It shows the same thing in Safari as Chrome. I had no reason to make an account until now, since the topic of whether everyone sees “Accept Admission” was highly disputed.

@motherandchild5 its probably going to be released the Friday before May 1st, as it has for the past several years. Naturally, I could be wrong.

@intergrity23 i got a WL letter but have no to-do’s

In my opinion ( I may be wrong) you have to-do’s if you get accepted or waitlisted.

Help me think this out. From the UVA transfer FAQs, UVA will accept 35-40 percent of transfer applicants. So, 1250-1428 students will apply. UVA says it will accept about 500 of these students, but about 250 will go to VA community college students, leaving 250 spots. Then what? Does anyone know if the remaining 250 spots are split between in-state or out-of-state students? If regular decision (during 12th grade of HS) allows UVA to take 70 percent in-state and 30 percent out-of-state, what do you know of the breakdown of what the remaining 250 spots would be – given that 250 will have already been awarded to instate community college students?

If you look on page 53 there are breakdown state of everything you are asking from last year and many years prior

@JackE I don’t think anyone could answer that without being highly speculative. Theres the factor that most VA community college students are already Virginia residents, so that probably makes up a large part of their in-state basis right there. I posted a link a while back with all the breakdowns UVA chooses to publish, but I doubt anyone on here could give you the specifics you’re wondering about.

Transfermer commented on the most recent blog update and said that they were still reading files so im thinking they wont release decisions until Saturday like W&M did.

Well I guess I have CC privilege…

@UVarejected wow. You didn’t have to go as far as creating a gif/video for us to believe you. Sorry for putting you through the trouble. Although it is VERY interesting you have a “View Decision” tab and I have an “accept admission” tab and when checking my decision when LaVolpe gave us the link I had a rejection letter, it does not add up.

Regardless, I feel like it’s just a fluke in the system. SIS has so many quirks to it. I wouldn’t be worried if I were you, so don’t assume you’re a UvaReject as your username implies.

Good luck! I hope you get in!

I know for a fact that everything was submitted accurately from my end because I talked with multiple people to make sure all my documents were successfully in. Additionally none of the other schools I applied to had any issues with my documents so I believe @Edu_rms might be right. I’m not saying anything for certain but it’s clear they’re asking for specific documents and I don’t see why they would if someone were rejected. Just my two cents

@intergrity23 don’t be so foolish at to assume you got in. A lot of “slippery slope” logic in what you just explained. I am sure there are laws/regulations that force the fin aid office to seek more info regardless. Bottom line, WAIT A FEW MORE DAYS GUYS

Got an acceptance in the mail from John’s Hopkins today. Mom hands it to me. I open it and throw it in the trash. She yells “Are you insane this is one step closer to your dream of getting into med school!!!” Me: " Sorry it’s not UVA" haha. So anxious/scared/nervous for UVA results. Pray for me!

@Edu_rms so nerve wracking. Not sure if I’ll be able to make it past Friday
