Guys, I screwed up and only submitted FAFSA by April 1st instead of the required FAFSA AND CSS profile. I just submitted my CSS profile today, April 11. Does this mean I am no longer eligible to receive any form of financial aid provided I am accepted for admission? Any thoughts/responses are helpful.
@dukesilverissaxy yeah I saw that haha it seems people also went crazy over their browser tab saying “accept admission”
yeah it’s insane i can’t believe they let that happen haha
The CSS profile is for institutional aid, i.e. that provided by UVA. FAFSA will still give you access to federal funding, i.e Stafford loans and Pell grants (assuming you qualify).
I believe that I read in the past that UVA sets a firm deadline for the CSS profile, meaning that if you don’t submit it by the April 1 deadline, a late submission will not be accepted.
@dukesilverissaxy I would go ahead and give Undergrad admissions a call, they will answer your question.
they have a number you can call :
Delays in submitting requested information may result in a delay in providing an award. Students who are unable to submit or are having difficulty submitting both the PROFILE and the FAFSA by April 1 should contact our office immediately. You can reach us at (434) 982-6000.
Does anyone know if they show preference towards second or third years? I graduated HS in 2016 and am technically in my first year at NVCC, but I did a dual enrollment program in HS, earning roughly 1.5 year’s worth of college credits. I applied as a second year transfer, but in reality I will be a third year this fall with my number of credits. Do you think this will hurt my chances?
@dukesilverissaxy If anything it will help increase your chances!
@smlifdab not true about the firm deadline. I submitted my CSS profile months late with no problem
That’s good to know!
Is there a check mark next to anyone’s application status on SIS? I just have the green circle indication its completion, but on the transfer threads from previous years it seems that students started getting check marks around this time.
Do all decisions come out at once on May 1st?
I think it’ll be someday before that all at once.
Do you guys think I should send in my midterm report even though I withdrew from a course this semester? I know if I’m accepted they’ll know anyways but I’m asking if it would hurt my chances of admission.
You should send it in if they ask for it. Otherwise, wait until you’re finished with the semester. If anything, give them a call and ask about their policy on the matter.
@va2pittsburgh That last answer wasn’t very useful. On the transfer blog, it RECOMMENDS that students send in their Mid-Term Report. If you were going to send it to have an impact on your decision, you should’ve sent it in weeks ago. If you sent it in now, I believe it would be too late (decisions are being released in less than two weeks).
@va2pittsburgh What do you guys mean by 3rd year? Do you mean Rising Junior?
Yes, rising junior. UVa calls its freshman “first years,” its sophomores “second years,” juniors “third years,” and seniors “fourth years.”
@viewsfromthe6 Thanks for the response. I originally didn’t intend on sending but another school asked for it and I considered sending it to UVA
