Has everyone already submitted all of the supporting documents for financial aid (1040, tax transcripts, w-2s, etc)? Isn’t it kind of redundant to have to submit both your 1040 and your tax transcripts?
I called admissions about that and they said that we don’t have to worry about sending the 1040 and w2s until after receiving the admissions decision, because thats when they will start reviewing for financial aid packages.
I called Student Financial Services a while ago and a woman I talked to said they just needed it ASAP to make initial financial aid packages. For me, I won’t be able to attend unless I get a free ride (self-supporting independent student from a family way below the poverty line), so I will have to defer if I get in and do not get offered enough aid so that I can work another year and save up money. If you’re not depending on financial aid in order to make your decisions it may be fine to wait to send documents, but they help SFS create more accurate packages.
Did anyone else get an email for financial aid verification? I find it interesting; maybe they have started making decisions?
Was it for FAFSA or for UVA itself?
@puddleduck24 it was from Uva SFS
@openr215s2 Interesting, haven’t received anything. Skimming through old forum posts, it doesn’t look like that’s been a flag in the past, but who knows? (UVa knows, I suppose.)
Does everyone still have green circles? Any green checks?
@TerrierNation green circle here, I think they did away with the green checks because it caused undue panic.
Side note - is anyone else torturing themselves by planning their schedule while knowing admission isn’t guaranteed? Just me? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I have a green circle, and no check. What exactly is the check supposed to mean anyways?
They don’t do the check anymore lol. It was just how they showed your application is complete
the transfers a couple years ago really ruined that check for all of us! thanks a lot fam!
Ya’ll I am losing my MIND waiting for decisions, three weeks can’t go by soon enough
yep
@puddleduck24 Doesn’t hurt to look at classes! For orientation, they made us list 20 possible classes, which I thought was excessive at first, but apparently people who had later signup sessions didn’t even get any of those. With add/drop, you’ll probably end up with all the classes you want but it’s good to have options.
how long until colleges start offering a for charge expedited decision? Pay $50 and you get your decision a month early. I wouldn’t do it but a lot of people would.
Shiiieeeet I’d pay $200 for an expedited decision.
edit: probs even more $$$ I hate this waiting game
I guess one positive is that the excitement builds up. What I mean is that, let’s just say hypothetically we all received the decision like a week back; we would celebrate for a day or two and then be like what is the next step. The more the anticipation the bigger the excitement.
imagine paying $200 and then getting rejected… depression x 10
hahaha I’d rather have the rejection now vs. in a month after all that anticipation is built up @CTUR782
but let me not get carried away, we’re getting in - positive vibeso nly!
