UVA Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

Jeez. My classes are all over May 1.

Do you guys know if decisions happen at 5pm or is it during the day?

Also, when did you guys start seeing “Eligible/ineligible for in-state priveleges” in SIS? I JUST started seeing it Saturday, and then I had to have it corrected so it’s only been in accurately since yesterday.

I saw on previous years sometimes it can be a random time. It’s really just whenever the decide to load the decisions. At that point does it really matter though? At least we know which day we’ll find out, a looooooot of other schools are very bad at that.

I think last year was pretty random remember my son calling to tell me during the day. He was pretty surprised!

How do they decide what year you are? Like I’m a freshman applying as a second year, but I have enough credits to be considered a sophomore (48 credits after this semester). Does that mean uva will look at me as a freshman applicant or a sophomore applicant?

0-29 credits = incoming 1st year
30-59 credits = incoming 2nd year
60+= incoming 3rd year, but the max they’ll take is either 60 exactly or very close to it.

@iamworried264 you’re going to be looked at as a current 2nd year applicant (who would continue being a 2nd year in the fall - assuming all 48 credits would transfer.)

@msport do you think that will increase my chances of getting in or is it just a technicality thing that has no weight on my chances of admission?

@iamworried264 UVA has emphasized where you are in your coursework. If you’re on the right path for what you want to major in, at the point you are in, in school right now, I wouldn’t worry. You’re in your first semester as a sophomore, so you should check out what courses are expected to be completed by that time on the major requirements page UVA has listed

Hey all, They reports on the Institutional Assessment website are there so you can break down the data however you’d like. I think it would be smart to toggle through several years of data to get a sense of the trends.

This data has been on the website since before I came to UVA in 2005. We want people to use this info to manage expectations and understand the size of the pool.

Hey I attend a community college in VA TCC. I took off most of last year and am a freshman. I’m applying for Political Science in CAS and want to know my chances. My HS grades were not that good, but I took lots of IB and AP courses. My ACT is a 28ish and I got a 4.0 w/ 18 credits this semester. Similar to another applicant there are 7 week courses at TCC that are accelerated and they finished 5 weeks ago where I took 16 credits and also received all A’s again. I have a total of 34 credits of classes that are all transferable and the final transcripts are all already received. I have in state recidency and had 1 brilliant recommendation sent by my religion professor. Would that mean I have a good chance then since I’m in state and also applying to CAS which seems to be easier than SEAS?

What day are decisions coming out? Is it the 27th?

May 1 my dude… it’s on your portal

It’s the 27th. It’s been the last Friday of April for the past I don’t even know how many years

@indarmy No guarantee that everyone will get a decision on the 27th, but most will. May 1st is certain however.

Exactly 2 more weeks of waiting left!

How are you guys making the time pass? lolololol

By doing the giant amount of homework and studying I have between now and the 27th.

retweet + binge watching queer eye

Trying to get busy and take my mind off of admissions. Less than two weeks left and feel the anxiety building. Finishing my semester strong as well! How are you guys doing!

Also if anyone can mind chancing me since my post didn’t get any attention. My counselor at TCC feels confident about my chances and is betting on an acceptance, but what do you guys think? I feel like I’ll get in and I can compare my stats with other acceptees, but I feel much less confident as we get closer to the 27th
