UVA Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

yeet

@CTUR782 Thanks for having my back bro :)>-

@TerrierNation I don’t think anyone should ever not apply to a school that they like; even if the acceptance rate is extremely low. I want to believe that anyone, who loves a school will apply no matter what. I applied to UPenn, Stern and Cornell fully knowing that my chance is basically non-existent and I am okay with that. On the other hand, I don’t think falsely motivating others really helps them.

Now as far as what I wrote, it was all factual, except the last part. Nevertheless, that’s why I even added the disclaimer: “Please do not hold these number to a high standard. It’s just my estimate from the given information.” I gave all the information, which I used to make an estimate. Anyone, who reads my post can come to their own conclusion.

@darkhound173 First of all, congrats on your business that will definitely impress. Your GPA is definitely lower than the average, however, it’s from a top 50 school, which might give you a shot. How many credits do you have? You need 54 to be considered AND all of the prerequisites.

As far as your sales goes, I think I have a similar situation. I invest, but I didn’t want to name the number, because I didn’t want to seem like a show off. Is that the same reason why you didn’t mention it? If you feel that it is important, you can always send an e-mail and ask them to add it to your application.

@TerrierNation Fair enough. Don’t think his purpose was to discourage anyone though. It was more so to give out an estimate of the stats based on what he read. Nobody should be discouraged from applying anywhere.

@Vincent1997 I don’t think I have 54 credits. Does this mean I am going to get automatically rejected?
Is this 54 credit a requirement to be considered?

If so, I am going to be so sad :frowning: and thanks man! That’s great that you do investing! I do that as well!

Yes, I didn’t mention sales because I felt like it made me sound douchy but I named how many clients I had. However, since this was a few months back, I have twice the number of clients I had then.

Thank you for your advice though

EDIT: Just found the 54 credit requirement and I guess I am automatically rejected. Damn lol. My other schools I am applying to are northeastern, emory, USC, boston college, and UMich. Is anyone else applying to these schools?

@darkhound173 I am sorry about that :frowning:
UVA is pretty strict about their prerequisites and credits. On the upside, you might still be able to apply next year! If you’ll have around 60 credits, then you’re in good shape. Also, it might be too late now, but you can always transfer to CAS and then internally transfer to McIntire.

I totally understand why you didn’t include that information and to be honest I have no idea if that is the right, or wrong thing to do. On one hand you want them to notice you and stand out, but on the other hand you don’t want to be too much.

@Vincent1997 Thanks bro I appreciate it! It’s okay, I got accepted into a few other schools already so it’s not too bad. May I ask where you’re applying to?

@darkhound173 My realistic schools are: Notre Dame, Boston College, USC and obviously UVA. I got into UNC-Chapel Hill. What schools did you get into?

@Vincent1997 My dream school is UNC Chapel Hill and got rejected :frowning: I got into University of Rochester and University of Oregon.

Right now, my first choice is USC or Northeastern. What about you?

@darkhound173 My first choice is UVA. Good luck with USC. They take a lot of transfers.

You can still get in as a second year liberal arts and apply to mcintire in January as an internal student. They are strict about all the pre req classes. I suggest call admissions and change your application to arts and sciences pre commerce. Not sure if they would automatically do that anyway but can’t guet to ask . Good luck

Approx 10 days remaining. The countdown begins.

Will anyone be visiting UVA to take a look around if they get accepted?

@2dixupmybut Might as well start packing your bags

@NOVAtransfer Yeah im gonna go there the weekend after my finals end if I get accepted

Word of advice especially for those of you who are applying to multiple schools. Go over the credit analyzer to see what credits transfer. If a course doesn’t come up check and see if maybe it is listed under an old course number. This happened to my son his intro to business class at his old school changed course numbers and wasn’t reflected on the credit analyzer. He emailed Uva with supporting backup and credit was granted.

Also join Uva housing and sublet page on fb.

Good luck and stay focused as your semester comes to an end!

I’m fine one minute then I start getting anxious. I hope it’s not just me. Going to be the longest 10 days ever

@benzgirl714 I definitely feel the same. The suspense is killing me.

@2dixupmybut Are you first year currently and what was your GPA last semester? A 3.1 is a bit on the lower side for UVA, but if your last semester GPA was good and if you can get your GPA this semester from a 3.1 to maybe a 3.6 you have a chance. I know UVA doesn’t requires sending in SAT scores for the Engineering school so I wouldn’t recommend sending them in your case.

@CTUR782 lol dude that post is a ■■■■■ post
