UVA MS Data Sciences- Any experience

Hello,

I’m a recent graduate from NC State in Electrical Engineering and am looking to take my next step into Data Sciences and pursue a Master of Science in Data Science next year.

UVA’s Data Science Institute popped up on quite a few websites, and seems to be reasonably popular. Does anyone have any experience with the institute? I like how the data sciences has its own area in UVA compared to being bundled up with engineering or business like in other schools.

How are the job opportunities, professor quality, etc.? I know UVA is more known for liberal arts but it looks like they’re making a ton of strides into science as well. The data science institute seems unique- VA Tech don’t have one and neither does any college in NC.

I’d like more information too if possible.

What I especially like is the possibility to use data science for any field such as math/science vs. business vs humanities. UVA is strong in all of these fields.

NCSU actually has a pretty big program as well.
