so it meant nothing?

Hard to say that the message being gone now means it was a glitch. It’s possible they just realized it was up there and scrambled to take it down before anybody saw it.

Regardless, I screen shotted it and intend to call admissions tomorrow.

From Dean J’s blog:

Dean J,

I just logged onto my UVa to see this message: "Congratulations and Wahoowa!

Amongst 31,000 applicants, your academic achievements and personal qualities made it clear that you have the potential to be a valuable member of our community. We are confident that you will add greatly to our system of student self-governance and our community of trust."

Please, please tell me that means I’m actually accepted. The message is clearly for admitted students, but I’m hoping it’s not there by mistake. I’d be heartbroken.

Thanks for any insight.

Sydney,

I can see that you have been logging in and out of MyUVA tonight. We don’t post decisions there. We post decisions in SIS. There are no decisions in MyUVA.
That is not the language in our offer letter.

Sent from my iPad

My message is also gone.

As for stats, I’m very similar to @novafan1225

35 ACT
4.56 GPA

2 710s on Subject Tests

6 years of leadership positions, numerous awards for debate, scholastic bowl.

OOS

White Male

So after it’s brought to attention, it’s now gone…

The statement never actually answers my question though. It’s not the language used in the offer, but I could tell that already. The message is just clearly for admitted students. Same with saying “we don’t post decisions on myUVa, it’s SIS.” Obviously this message isn’t a decision, but a message given to admitted students.

SO MANY QUESTIONS, SO LITTLE ANSWERS

'Thank you for your recent application to the University of Virginia. We hope your myUVa Page will enable you to learn more about our community of citizens and scholars.

With its rich traditions, beautiful atmosphere, student empowerment, and academic prowess, U.Va. is a singular institution. We stand by our founder Thomas Jefferson’s vision of U.Va. as a place dedicated to educating leaders in practical affairs and public service, even as the University continues to innovate and evolve. We seek extroverts and introverts, scientists and artists, the playful and the studious, overt leaders and those who lead by example, and endless combinations of the above. We don’t want defining the typical U.Va. student to be easy.
Congratulations and Wahoowa!

As you finalize your college plans, we hope you’ll use your myUVA page as a guide to better understanding what it is like to live and learn at the University of Virginia. As always, do not hesitate to contact our admission office if we can ever be of further help.

We believe the importance of the global community cannot be overstated, and this belief is reflected in our commitment to international students. Approximately 5 percent of our entering classes are foreign nationals; these students’ voices, visions for the future, and dedication to improving their countries and their world benefit and inspire all students and faculty, and their contribution can be felt everywhere on Grounds—through class discussion, research projects, dorm and social activities, friendships, and more.’

I got this too!

I’d be happy if this means acceptance I’m an international student, 2300 SAT superscore, SAT 2: 800, 760, A levels: A* A* A* A, good essays I suppose.

exactly

Absolutely getting no sleep tonight

This sure is an intriguing situation. I really feel that decisions are being prepared for release tomorrow, and this message surely gave a lot of stress to a lot of people.

Okay wait. If you’re an international, abs your message says something about international students in particular- and ours didn’t- these messages are personalized. OH MY GOD. GUYS. I THINK WE DID IT

How do people get 2300 on their sat, like good grief. I got an 800 math and both 750 subject tests but my sat was only 2030

I got a 2250 (stupid bad math curve) with two 800 subject test one 770 and a 34 ACT with a 101.2 weighted GPA

Well it looks like all of us have good stats, so maybe the congratulations was significant

I wasn’t sure, and still don’t wanna believe it just in case, but if an international applicant got the same message we did with a part added on about being international…clearly the message didn’t go out to everyone, cause there’s different messages and they contain personalized parts in the case of the international student. Plus the evasive language from Dean J…I really think this is it guys. We did it

What do your myUVA pages say now?

well about 10 minutes ago i first saw the ‘congratulations’ message. 5 mins later parts of the message disappeared and the ‘congrats’ part was no longer there. Now I can see the full message again. I think that text box is separated into parts and the ‘international’ bit could have been there the whole time. This means that this can still be an error, rather than a personalised acceptance message.

Ok look, now the congrats part has disappeared and this is what I see:

'Thank you for your recent application to the University of Virginia. We hope your myUVa Page will enable you to learn more about our community of citizens and scholars.

Well, there goes my theory. That’s really upsetting. I guess we’ll find out tomorrow what any of this meant (dun dun dun)

It is exactly what we see with a little international stuff added at the end but you got a diffrent congradtulations statemnt right

Yes.

Although this was not intended, I think it does mean something. But come on it’s just one more day. we can do it.

You guys can take screenshots of the message and if you’re really desperate to get in you can sue the school and provide the evidence dunno if that works in the states…
