UVA Releases Early Action decisions, spawning a social media tsunami

"Early Thursday evening, more than 20,000 students from around the globe learned whether they had been admitted to the University of Virginia’s Class of 2022 via the early action application process.

Out of the 21,573 early applicants, 6,000 received the news they were hoping for – an offer rate of 27.8 percent. Last year, UVA had an offer rate of 28.9 percent for early action applicants.

Many of those who received less-good news will have a second chance; their applications were deferred to the regular admissions cycle." …

There has to be a small percentage of students that withdrew their application. My daughter had to do that after getting accepted into the VT Architecture program.

If they only count complete applications, they may or may not count ones that were withdrawn before a decision.

A fair number of deferred applicants will withdraw at this point if they have already been admitted elsewhere, especially out-of-state.
