Hey I’m waiting on a transfer decision to UVA in the next two weeks and would love feedback so I wouldn’t feel so anxious.

I think my essays were pretty good, I gave them a theme of a young man on a journey to be able to help people in tragic situations but I need to empower myself before I can empower others and can only do that by building off of the strength of UVA’s community.
I’m kind of surprised you didn’t get in last year. What was your class rank and did you apply EA or RD? Your SAT scores may have held you back but you are in state and about 48% of students had similar test scores.
I’m thinking you have a great chance at a transfer, but what do I know? They only require about a 3.6 if I remember correctly, from community college graduates for guaranteed admission. I would think a 4.0 at JMU makes you a better choice. At any rate, it looks like you’ll know by May 1. Here’s a link to the Common Data. You can look at the section on transfers. It should make you feel good.
I applied RD last year and I didn’t want to go to UVA originally so I didn’t put a lot of effort into my essays. My class rank was 35/520. Thanks so much though! That information about the community college guarantee makes me feel a lot more confident!
“I need to empower myself before I can empower others and can only do that by building off of the strength of UVA’s community.”
I think this statement is just plain false; that is NOT the only way you can do that. I think you should either change the topic or at the very least your approach to the essay, maybe the most effective way you can anticipate doing it?
Based on your college performance and your EC involvement, I think your chances are excellent. That should carry ten times the weight of your HS record, I think.
Hello! If any transfers are in need of housing we have one at Jefferson Commons (Single bed room) for around 550, and there are 5 girls! 4 of the girls are sharing 2 rooms and they are willing to raise 100 dollars to decrease the rent of the last single room to 550 from 650! Please let me know if you are interested!
