what kind of college gpa do most vtech engineering or vcu engineering students who transfer to uva get?

I'm not sure, but I've heard a 3.8.

I would think you could get in with less than a 3.8 especially for engineering.

The site still says they haven't received my hs and my college transcript, but I definitely sent them. I know they have a notice as to why your transcripts haven't been posted (they're entering thousands right now), but I sent mine in 2 or 3 weeks ago and still it's showing they haven't received them. I don't want to bug admissions about it because they're pretty swamped right now, but at the same time I want to make sure they've received them. Should I e-mail them or call them?

Wonder what's the earliest we could hear something? Anyone know?

Well.. I had mine sent out Feb 10... and it's listed as not received also. Actually you posting this makes me a little more comfortable about mine not being received because they just probably haven't processed them yet as opposed to it being lost or not sent out.

Yeah, I feel a little better too, now that you say they haven't posted yours as being received either. Do you know of anyone that has found out if they were accepted before the actual notice date? Hate this waiting!

i applied for fall admission at the end of December and i still have not got any type of a decision posted online. they have received my transcripts and that took about 3 or 4 weeks for that to post. Did anybody get anything regarded access UVA last week?

Finally! I just checked my application status online and they finally posted my high school and college transcripts. I would check today Bigpack. If it's still not showing up, then give Admissions a call. You probably won't receive a decision though, till the first of May.

Sorry Bigpack. I see now that your transcripts were posted. I wish they'd do a rolling admissions. Seems like it would be easier on everyone if they did. The waiting is driving me nuts and we have a ways to go yet.

Anyone else have any stats to post?

My stats(as a fall '05 applicant)-

-In-state for school of architecture (7% acceptance rate OUUUUUCH)
-3.63 gpa (3.0 my first quarter and a 3.7-4.0-3.7 for every consec. quarter after that one...not to mention deans list too) at Ohio State
-Enrolled in ohio state's school of architecture
-all this year has been 200-600 level architecture courses
-so-so essays
-2.8 HS gpa
-1250 sats and 26 act
-EC include ice hockey(for osu my freshman year), NSCS, Honors, and AIAS(architecture assoc.)

...I'm not too sure about my chances but I heard that 2 of the 7 accepted to uva's arch program last year were VT students with 3.8s. Im hoping they will see that I am unique and go somewhere out of state, but still a VA resident. Plus i also hope they see my improvement since my first sreshman quarter.

Any thoughts? any other applicants for their school of architecture around???

Hey buckeye! We have very similar stats and I'm applying in-state also and attending UMD with a 3.65 gpa and Dean's List. Only a 1200 SAT in HS though. :( My HS gpa was a 3.5 and I was pres. of my school my senior year and pres. of the junior class. I'm also president of my program here at UMD, so I'm hoping they like my EC's. I'm worried that my essay won't be good enough but I know I have 2 good recs. I applied to the school of Arts & Sciences trying to get into poli-sci.

Did you apply to UVA last year? I didn't.

Hey katt-

Yeah our stats are pretty similar, but your EC's are much better than mine. Applying from maryland should help you out too...not to mention you're applying for the school of arts and sciences (i think they have a 20-30% acceptance rate for transfers)

To answer your question, yes i did apply last year for, none other than, the school of architecture. In retrospect, applying as a freshman with a 3.0 gpa and a general OSU student(that is not in the architecture program), was probably a waste of time and money. Do you think that applying last year (and improving significantly since then) helps or hurts my chances?

By the way, are you from northern VA?

"By the way, are you from northern VA?" lol, can you believe Charlottesville? Yeah, that's right. I didn't apply last year because I didn't feel I had the grades or test scores, but I'm hoping that by making Dean's List, they will at least consider me.

It's tough to say whether or not applying last year will help or hurt. If it helps you, then it may hurt me because I didn't. I'm a general UMD student too! I have taken 3 poli-sci classes so far. Maybe that'll help, I don't know. If they're looking for really tough classes our freshman year in college, they'll probably count me out. Although, I don't consider English Comp. to be that easy. No Calculus for me though, only Trig. But, I don't need it as a Poli-Sci major.

Oh wow, you're from C'ville...I applyed partly to be closer to home but i think you've beaten me in that regard. I think being a general student only hurts your chances if you apply to a specific school (ie nursing, arch, or business). Yeah, im going to look into picking up poli-sci as a sencond major, or just drop arch for it all together, so maybe we'll have the same classes WHEN we both get in right? Does UMD have a good poli sci program because I would like to apply there if i dont get into UVA.

It's a very good program, just not in the state I want to be in. ;) In my opinion, UVa has the best poli-sci dept. on the east coast, with the exception of the Ivies. Let's hope we get in! And if not, maybe I'll see ya here at UMD in the fall. I've also applied to JMU and VaTech, but my first choice is UVa. I'm not sure I'd leave UMD for JMU and Tech, but I wanted to possibly have that option when the time comes.

Yeah i agree: Maryland(the state), Jmu, and tech....all crappy things. Actually Ohio state has the #4 poli sci program in the world...but Ohio (and the midwest in general) is the only place on earth worse than Maryland. Have you thought about WandM, apparently their school is relatively easy to transfer to for the spring semester and they have a great poli sci program...esp for people aspiring to go to law school, like me.

Yeah, I've thought about W&M, just never got around to applying there. Wasn't there another essay with their app? Yuck! It was hard enough finding the time to do UVa's. I'm also planning on going to law school, IF I can keep my grades up and do well on the LSAT.

Yeah I would imagine WandM has an essay on their application. But seeing as how I am an architecture student, I have ALL of the time in the world to do essays, haha. Have you started prepping for the LSAT yet?

Hey buckeye! No, I haven't started prepping for the LSAT yet? Isn't freshman year in college a tad too early? I've been too busy studying for exams before spring break. My main concern right now is keeping my gpa up.

btw, does UVa require a mid-term report? I can't remember.
