@bubblepop12444 thanks! I am definitely hoping lol

Honestly your chances are not good. You have decent GPA, but your test scores are lacking in general. And you’re an Asian male going for engineering (like me) which is the hardest subset to get into (because they are the highest achieving). The problem is, you do not have anything standout, which is what you’ll need to get into a top school. Additionally, your SAT II scores are pretty awful considering your intended major. You have a chance, but prepare for rejection from top schools.

@b4sicallyid0work thanks! What do you think of my chances for UMich

.

I think you’re a near shoe-in for Pitt. Good luck!

@outtahere2017 thanks, what about the others?

D has higher stat than you (1550 SAT, 760 Math II, 800son Bio and Chem, 10 5s on APs, 6 more this year) and in better demographics than you, yet deferred from Michigan. She did get in just this week. Michigan can be hard to get in. She applied CS. But you never know, wish you the best of luck!!

Think Pit and William Mary should be good.

Didn’t you say that your major is engineering? Then why is your CR score on your SAT a good bit higher than your math score? Your stats (course rigor, UW GPA) are good, and the state schools (with the exception of UVA) will probably accept you. The problem is that the Ivy engineering students have high 700s to 800 as well as the high CR score. It simply puts you at a disadvantage for the more competitive schools. Your intangibles (leadership, ECs, etc) are very good, but compared to Ivies, those SAT scores give you next to no shot. That being said, however, I hope you choose the school that is best for you and I wish you luck wherever you go.

@Nojotennis I’m decent at both math and CR. I got deferred from UVa the first time as in state, what are my chance of getting in regular?

Again, because others’ math scores and math ECs are probably better than yours out of those that apply to UVA engineering, you are already at a disadvantage. That being said, you are right on the admissions bubble with the 700, and because of the wacky nature of college admissions, anything can happen, so don’t take my advice as a definite yes or no. It is only advice. I wish you luck wherever you go.

@Nojotennis does being in state help?

I suppose it could. It could be a tiebreaker of sorts, perhaps.

@Nojotennis that’s true, thanks!

UVa (early action, deferred): Waitlisted
UPenn: Rejected
JHU: Waitlisted
Northwestern: Waitlisted
William&Mary : Waitlisted/Accepted
Cornell: Waitlisted
Pitt : Accepted
UMich: Waitlisted/Accepted

As evidenced by the number of waitlists here, these could really all go either way. Your scores are on the lower side for many of these & your ECs are solid, but perhaps not especially unique.

Best of luck! Chance me back? http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1966406-chance-me-upenn-ed-yale-brown-princeton-etc-will-chance-back.html#latest

rejected by northwestern and johns hopkins, accepted by Pitt

please chance on others

LOL WAITLISTED BY UVA I GIVE UP.

Accepted to W&M
