I will be applying for fall transfer to both schools (University of Virginia and James Madison University). I consider myself someone with a realistic vision and understand UVA is a big reach currently. So this is my problem...

Option 1....I could transfer to JMU next fall and attend for my next 3 years. I feel very comfortably about applying and possibly getting in. I really like the school and won't be disappointed at all in attending. I would hope to double major in accounting and finance. They host a top 50 business school.

Option 2....I could stay at my current institution for sophomore year and keep up my grades and try to apply as a spring transfer or junior transfer to UVA. I could hold steady my 3.7 GPA and get further away from my dismal high school grades. I believe my chances would increase, however transferring in junior year is more competitive and the business school is especially competitive. I would try for accounting or finance or settle on econ if i couldnt get into the business school. I really like UVA and i believe it would set me up better for the future. If i possibly didn't get into UVA for junior year i might be able to apply out of state to another great school with a great business program. I couldn't do 3 years out of state tuition, but i might be able to do 2 years.

I would love to go to UVA, but i wouldn't be terribly upset going to JMU. I would prefer not to stay at my current school. I want to really experience college. I feel slightly trapped at my current small private school and want some breathing room and to pursue a business degree. I find my current school boring. boring in almost every aspect.

So my question is...what do you think? Is it worth going through another year of boredom for my dream school as well as a great institution. Possibly setting myself up for more opportunities in my future....or get out soon and enjoy myself while still getting a good business degree?

I plan on getting my MBA in the future if that helps.

Let me know what you think. Thank you.
