I didn’t apply to any other UW. I’ve applied out of state. But all of them don’t accept a lot of people so I don’t really have a chance of getting in. If I don’t get into any of them or UW I’ll just apply again for W 2019.
@transfer3018 i feel like you stand a good chance for getting in still!
& yea i applied to out of state schools however i would be suprised if i recieved enough aid to actually be able to attend any of them… FAFSA out of state is ruthless lol.
oh lol… not meaning to sound negative or anything either. i just have realistic expectations about the acceptence to my major.
i have all A’s in the prereqs (except for an A-)… just some info
@cercit20 It will depend on which classes specifically brought your GPA down. Having a near 4.0 in the prerequisites is good, but they’ll still look at any other Physics, CS, or Math courses you’ve taken.
If your major-related courses are at or near 4.0, you’ve got a shot.
Did anyone remember if Academic Planning Worksheet was a part of application?
@cercit20 wow! your stats are beyond better than mine. i have faith you’ll get it in. im still holding hope i can get in and they can take a chance on me. good luck!
@9820520 No. I’m pretty sure it’s not. Because the respective major would have their planning sheets.
Oh wait. You mean the sheet with the classes required for transfer admissions right? If so then you don’t need it. If it’s something else then I don’t know.
@uwcse2020 are you in the CSE department currently? and thanks for the hope. the lowest grade i’ve recieved are 2 B’s in statics/dynamics. 1 B+ in calculus 1. the rest of my math classes are all A’s (still waiting on linear grade) and physics are all A’s except A- in physics 3.
@golddawgs thanks haha i am trying to remain hopeful too. june is a really long time to wait though !
@transfer3018 yes. I mean the sheet for prerequisites courses.
Thank you!
Yes, @cercit20 I made it in as a transfer from an in state community college this year. Your pre requisite GPA is something like a 3.92, which is competitive, and if your Bs are not from recent quarters, then your recent overall GPA is close to or at 4.0, which is also competitive. In my opinion (which only goes so far as seeing a handful of applications that have been accepted, and some denied) you’ve got the grades, so it will come down to your essay. Not a sure thing, but a good shot!
@uwcse2020 wow, you are the first person Ive spoken to who successfully transferred into uws cse program! & thank you for the words of encouragement. Unfortunately, my Bs are from recent quarters so I’m sure those slip ups will be factored in (my fault really haha). But my last two quarters will be all As even if I have to work like a dog for it. (Transfer gpa at 3.85 with actually 177 credits). My essay from what ive been told is strong and made someone cry lol but idk. Hopefully those Bs don’t ruin it all …
Also If you dont mind me asking, what was your GPA and overall profile when you transferred in?
@cercit20 I transferred with a 4.0 GPA. I worked in my school’s math lab as a tutor, and spent some time volunteering to tutor students in CS on my own. I was in the military as well, so I wrote about that quite a bit in my personal statement. I also compete in brazilian jiujitsu, which I wrote about, no idea if that played a role though.
Worth noting that 2 other students from my college made it in the same cycle as me. They both had 3.9~ overalls with 4.0s in pre requisites. Don’t really know their extra curriculars though.
The one thing that might work against you is how many credits you have, because I think 177 is close to graduating, is it not? No idea how that will work.
@uwsce2020 … well i probably won’t get in then. my gpa is too low. i think you need at least a 3.9 to get in. & i have enough credits to graduate with 2 associates when i finish. i havee a lot of gen ed courses along with taking every math class at my school and extra english classes. but yes, if i went to uw i would transfer as a junior. i’m still young though, just turned 20.
do you know anything about tacomas cse program and how it is in comparison to seattles? uwt is my backup and i’ve already gotten in.
@uwsce2020 how many credits did you have if you don’t mind me asking? did you finish your associates when you transferred?
@cercit20 I had 82 I when I transferred, and no associates completed, the admissions department specifically told me they care about what courses youve taken not if you have an associates or not.
Any UW campus is going to give you top notch instruction, and the same degree so far as I know. In some ways I have heard that Bothell and Tacoma campuses are better (smaller class sizes, less focus on research).
@uwcse2020 thanks for all of the information. ! also if you don’t mind me asking, what cc did you transfer from? i have yet to meet anyone from my school who got into seattles cs or cse program as a transfer (including perfect 4.0 students)
Has anyone talked to admissions recently on when the earliest notifications will be coming out?
@cercit20 Bellevue Community College.
@julietjuju3 i am pretty sure sometime in june… at least that’s what it says on the website under notification date for transfers. it seems so far… that would make them the last school to get back to me out of 10 lol
@uwcse2020 when did you find out you got in? was it in june?
