@cercit20 Yeah… two days after denial from cse, they(uw international admission) asked me for additional high school transcript and explain why I did not take social science in my home country(CADR requirements)[I toook them in CC]. I think admission department is viewing me as freshmen now.
I will dial their number on Monday.
Nobody I knew has ever step into my situation,I assume there will not be many, so I will update on the forum.
@Iluvjava Seems like they’re considering you for pre-major or maybe your second major. I think taking CADR in cc is fine too. I don’t remember it too well but look for uw transfer admission requirements. I think I saw it being mentioned on their page
Is there anyone get the decision who is a Bioengineering major? I didn’t get any e-mail from UW.
I am international transfer applicant. GPA 3.95
@hellokorea7777 Did you check student portal? UW doesn’t send all email I think.
Yes I did but it still shows “Thank you for applying for admission to the Seattle campus of the University of Washington for autumn quarter 2018. We will inform you when a decision is made on your application.”
I don’t know why I cannot get the decision and when do I get the decision…
Did you get the decision as an international applicant?
@hellokorea7777 check your unofficial transcript on myuw website. If it’s uploaded with your name and major, it means you are accepted. I had the same message on my portal but found out through this about decision
I am also international student, and haven’t heard anything back yet, and I don’t see anything on transcript section, does it mean I’m rejected or is it because we are international students ?
@ucint123 The unofficial transcript section will not have anything until you get admitted. I am an international student and I was recently admitted. The unofficial transcript loaded for me. And decisions go out until the end of July I believe
@dorilusions I got into UW and I didn’t apply into the major for Fall so i’m a pre-major so it’s possible.
Did anyone hear back from UW this week?
@uwcse2020 hey i was wondering if you could give some tips for the first year? specifically if i wanted to get into research my first year what is the best option…? I noticed it seems kinda hard to find a position…
I was also talking to an adviser about double majoring in ACMS - Discrete Math & Algorithms and she said if I would have to apply to the department and be accepted but she didn’t recommend that unless I had a good reason because i would need to graduate in 2-3 years max. do you see a lot of people double major?
Also- what are some other tips you have for transfer students? thank you so much btw!
@cercit20 No, I don’t see a lot of people double majoring. It is already a pretty difficult schedule just trying to get all the CSE courses you need, adding another difficult major on top would be a ton of extra work.
Make sure you take CSE390T, the transfer seminar, it is great. You can talk to your advisor about research opportunities, but I haven’t done any, and don’t really plan to myself, so I am not sure how it works.
@uwcse2020 yeah im not going to double major anymore, seems useless. have you done any internships btw? I probably will only be able to do one (the following summer…) maybe two. do you think that is enough? (considering that some people have done 1 every summer they’ve been in school)
@uwcse2020 also would you advise against taking 3 cse classes my first quarter? i’m only taking 2 (311 & 351) and am taking the transfer seminar and a research seminar. i just noticed the uw charges the same amount for 12 versus 17 credits so was wondering what you thought. thank you!!!
Oh my god this waiting is killing me. I’ve yet to hear from UW by email or letter, and my unofficial transcript has not loaded. I wrote what I hope was a strong essay, have a decent GPA, and I’m hoping all of the hard work and sacrifices I’ve made for the chance to get in will come through in my application, and that it will matter in the end. Now I’m realizing what a blow it would be to be denied. I took a year off from school to work and become totally independent. I’m really hoping this isn’t reflecting badly on me in some way. Is anyone else in a similar situation?
People keep telling me that it’s a good thing that it’s taking so long because they would have told those who were denied right away, and wait to tell those who were accepted. I have no idea how admissions decide to hand out decisions. Is there a method to this madness?
I feel insane by now, but does anyone know if there’s a time of day or day of the week that decisions get sent out? Is it useful to check my email/MyUW 12 times a day 7 days a week or only after 5:00p Monday through Thursday? Help. I’m serious. Does anyone know? Losing it over here.
@rschratt what’s your major? Call the department you applied to and ask about their transfer decisions. some departments have made all of their decisions while others are getting back to applicants still… Some even in August
@rschratt are you in state or out of state tramsfer btw?
UW admitted me but I am still waiting for the admission of the college of engineering.
@cercit20 I am hoping to do an internship next summer, which means technical interviews this fall. 3 CSE courses in 1 quarter is doable, but not recommended. Especially with a course like CSE 311, it would be a serious challenge. 311 by itself could easily be 20 hours a week outside of class.
