UW CSE Direct Admission Email?

Ha … maybe I’ll see you at the visit day…

You’ll get a tour of the building and get to talk to some direct admit students from various years throughout your visit. There also will be a reception after. :)

Oh I guess I should say this while we’re on the subject of visit day.

DIRECT ADMITS! COME TO VISIT DAY IF YOU CAN!

Yes, I agree with speedsolver. If you haven’t considered UW as your top choice, but you have a chance to visit and you’re direct admit, I strongly suggest going to visit. I went yesterday, and the campus is absolutely fantastic! After speaking to an adviser, I also learned a lot about the program and where students usually get jobs after graduating. The location is great too and from what I saw, the city and the surrounding area is amazing (well, it was actually sunny yesterday, but it looks like getting used to cloudy and rainy weather in that location wouldn’t be too difficult).

Unfortunately, I did not get direct admit and will have to decline UW’s offer as I have a better opportunity elsewhere (with a much more bland location unfortunately), but had I gotten it, the school would most likely have been the school that I would have gone to. So consider wisely!

@speedsolver: That web programming class was awesome! I couldn’t understand much because I have never touch web programming before, but it was not only interesting, but also entertaining.

caliskimmer: Where ever you end up going to school, I suggest that you get your hands dirty on at least the basics of web programming. It’s a ton of fun! :smiley: Good luck!

@speedsolver: I definitely will! Thank you for your help.

@speedsolver thanks!

I sent an email to the advisers Friday and they responded today:

"We do not have a waiting list for Direct Admission. We admitted 85 people, expecting that 25-30 would actually enroll at the UW, so all our spaces are filled.

Direct Admission is a great opportunity for a small number of students, but keep in mind that most UW students are not directly admitted to a major. Most people start at the UW as premajors and declare or apply to a major after 1-2 years of prerequisite courses. Lots of strong high-school students do not receive offers of Direct Admission – we don’t have space to take everyone who looks really great (we don’t even have space for everyone with a 4.0 GPA, or everyone with lots of programming experience)."

So, this means that this year they don’t have a wait-list?

Oh, I guess they don’t have a wait list. :</p>
