Thank you mlidge for this information!

As usual, speedsolver, thank you for your clarification. When do we know exactly when someone’s gotten it? I bet you we will see a new thread posted in all caps or something of that sort :D

Haha yeah if someone gets DA on this board, I think an excited post will pop up here somewhere… Good luck! :)

Guys i’m in the department!!!

@sumzup you mean you were DA’ed?

I think they already go to UW, lol. Is this some sort of trickery you are trying to cast upon us, sumzup?

Lol! I just got an email from UW. I was so excited, and then I opened it. Something about food and housing, darn… Still not giving up hope though ;)

@caliskimmer me too haha

if i’m DA’ed… that will change things big time.

sumzup, don’t be a ■■■■■

lolol sumzup <3

I’m not trolling, I’m telling the truth! I am indeed a member of the department.

Yes, you are telling the truth!

Got mine! :D

“To cut to the chase — it’s my pleasure to let you know that you’ve been
selected as one of a small number of extraordinary students who are being offered Direct Admission into the Computer Science & Engineering program at the University of Washington.”

I got mine too!

Congrats!!! :)

Congratulations!

Is there any way to find out if you’ve been waitlisted?

The only people who would know that information are the admissions committee. You could call the advisers and see if they’ll let you know, but I don’t know if they will. If not, there’s no way to find out if you’ve been waitlisted.

I just got my direct admission email today!!! I am completely shocked and speechless! I always wanted to major in CS. But I have a concern. Does direct admission guarantees you to have a major in CS that you won’t lose it? For example, I am having a really bad case of senioritis this semester that I received a 3.2 in CSC 142 at a community college (running start). Since many students were recommended to get at least a 3.8 in 142/143. How would my senior grades affect this?

Congrats tterra!

As long as you don’t get rescinded from UW (D’s and F’s all over your senior transcript ;D) you’ll have computer science.

You will only be ‘kicked out’ of the department if you fail a course and then fail another course while on probation. Or vandalize the building. Or something. Really, don’t worry about it. :)

Oh, also, if the advisers think you should retake CSC 142, they’ll tell you. I know they’ve told some DAs who didn’t do well in 142/143 to retake part of the intro series (like they got a 2.5 or something). They can’t really force you to since you got at least a 2.0, but still recommended since it sets a foundation.

Thanks Speedsolver!!! You have been a great help all year. I really appreciate it.

Wow! I currently have 4 As, 2 Bs, and 1 C. I am going to be okay for sure!

Can you please tell me more about Direct Admission Visit Day which happens on April 13th? The event sounds really interesting! And I live in Seattle and I am able to go to that event by the way.
