Im currently in my last quarter of community college.
I plan to transfer to the UW-Seattle by Sept 2014 if I get in.

My cum gpa is 2.95.
I am a transfer student planning to go into UW-Seattle computer engineering, or computer science program.

I have no job experience.
I have no extra curric.
I have nothing outside of school.
All i have is my transfer from community college and the 2.95 cumm gpa.

Only thing I have done is create 1 moderately successful website that has helped over 100k people do stuff online so far, current rate is helping 30k people per month do stuff from my website. I was thinking of talking about that. Would that maybe make up for the other stuff im lacking?
I am thinking I would include that in my stuff because it would be something different.

I have attended transfer thur, spoke with counselor, all those things I have gotten the full help that i could from.

Has anyone gotten into the UW-Seattle computer science or engineering program and got low GPA?
I would appreciate tips and suggestion. I really want to get in, but at the same time I don't want to get too excited and get my hopes up. I don't really know what else to do.

Note that the prereq GPA maters more than the cummulative GPA for admission to competitive STEM majors.

The average transfer prereq GPA of those admitted to CompE was 3.76, but as you can see from the stats sub-3.0-GPA applicants are occasionally admitted to CompE, so factors other than GPA are obviously considered.

The average transfer prereq GPA for CS was 3.85 and the minimum last year was 3.5, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up for that major…

Sorry to hijack, but I was wondering - if I’m an international transfer applying for general admission first to finish CSE142/143 before applying for CompE (i’ve finished the other pre-req), will the department take into account that my other credits are from a less recognized international college, and possibly deny me admission no matter how high my gpa there was?

The Computer Science department at UW-Seattle is very strong and rigorous. For undergraduate students at UW, they require a 3.5 cumulated GPA or higher to even apply for an accelerated admission.

For transferring, the department may ask you to retake CSE142/143 depending on your situation, but is mostly unlikely.

The average GPA for UW CSE students is around 3.9

If you have a lacking GPA, I would say that it would be difficult to get into the department unless your website seemed to be extremely interesting for the administration.

Hi, and yes. I looked at the stats, chances don’t look that great for me. I will try applying anyways. I did okay in CSE classes, But I did pretty horrible in physics and calc but I passed, that and 1 class that I took that I did not need pretty much dropped my gpa down so low to what it is now.

My site has helped a lot of people and I guess maybe I can try to find a creative way to show that to them? Maybe that would make me stick out a bit?

But thanks for your suggestion.

Hi, and yeah it is sort of disheartening but life goes on, I have considered Bothell.
Thanks for your suggestion though.
