UW Winter 2015 transfer thread

@nengerz Yes I have! Been accepted to UWB and i’m still waiting to hear from Seattle.

@sweetpsychosis‌ I know what you mean, UWB wants me to accept my offer by November 16th! If Seattle is actually sending their letters out the week of Thanksgiving, I have to commit to UWB before I hear from Seattle.

@sweetpsychosis‌

Right?!
A couple people have called, including me, and this seems to be the case.
This exact situation happened a couple years ago for winter transfers.
Most weren’t notified until the 22nd or so…

I think they need to notify people of the result sooner than thanksgiving because there are so much to do for a lot of us with housing… Finances and other colleges… Then if we get accepted we risk not being able to sign up for classes that we want because they will be full already :frowning: super frustrating…
About my email to office of admission…I didn’t want to believe it either that they told me the first one who submit the application will be the first to hear back if they get accepted or rejected…I believe you guys especially how some of you actually heard something back already… Sigh soooo much waiting…and figuring out with what to do if I get rejected or accepted but sooo little time. Bleh

@nengerz You will hear back soon if you applied only to the Bothell campus. Only the Seattle campus admissions said we will hear the week of Thanksgiving. I applied to Bothell twice and heard back shortly after both times.

Thanks for the kind words @andielle‌ [-O<

@nengerz‌ To give you a better time frame, I applied to UWB on October 8th, my transcript loaded on October 24th (and my application status changed to reviewed), and I got my letter in the mail on October 27th. You will get in! When did you apply?

Anyone heard back from Foster?

Wonder why some quarters they start notifications early, and in other quarters they notify so late? Thoughts?

@Andielle‌ oh wow! I sent my application in on sept 29th and the status just says awaiting initial review. I wasn’t able to access anything on my UW page before and last night I was able to see the DARS page through my plan that’s about it. I’m working on my last two classes at cascadia then I’ll have full 90credits to get my AA but I applied to uwb with general admission as undecided because I still have no idea what I want to do just yet…
I hope you hear from Seattle soon so you won’t have to pay the 100$ to uwb and then UW Seattle send you the result…

@Husky1995‌ Because they hate us! :(

@nengerz‌

Eeek! You should have specified a major.
UW is really big about having your pre requisites finished and knowing what you want to pursue. The reason they like transfers is because, “They know what they want to do.” (quoted by a UW advisor)
Not saying you won’t get in, but it most definitely would have helped!
The fact that you are able to do something that you weren’t able to do with MyPlan may be a positive sign, but don’t quote me on that!
Good luck, you should be fine :)

Yeah I realized that afterward…although I did talk in my statement that I wanted to get into the science field but I wasn’t being specific. I just have to remember…I’ll hear back from them…hahha just a matter of sooner or later. And all I can really do right now is hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

@nengerz‌

I agree.
I too am hoping for the best, but also ready for the worst!
:/

how are you guys checking the status of the application?!

@sweetpsychosis‌

Some of us called and asked about the notification period.
They don’t specify anything about personal applications though.

I know that… some people on this thread have been saying their application status says awaiting review. like @nengerz
post above they said “sent my application in on sept 29th and the status just says awaiting initial review.” like how do you find out if your application is under review aka the status of your application.

@sweetpsychosis‌ nengerz can see the status of their application because they applied to the Bothell campus, not Seattle. When you click to view your application for Bothell, it tells you the status of your application. Seattle doesn’t have this feature :/

@sweetpsychosis‌ Oh haha.

Hi everyone. I’m new here. I’m just wondering about the unofficial transcript trick. I never knew about that until now and when I checked mine, it actually loads says that it’s only been prepared an hour ago. Not sure if the link’s already been working even before because I’m actually a non matriculated student at UW so I already have my student number too.

Thank you!

@leanoctavio‌

Hmm.
If it says that it’s only been prepared an hour ago that could mean something!
Is this for UW Seattle, UW Bothell, or UW Tacoma?
I’ve heard that the transcript trick doesn’t work for matriculated students, but not sure about non-matriculated students.

@Jsmith210‌ Know anything about non-matriculated/matriculated students and the transcript trick? :o

If it lists your class standing, college ( arts & sciences, etc), and major than its a good indication you have been accepted. Non-matriculated student transcripts have “non-matriculated” in place of a class standing. If it says it was prepared an hour ago, it might just be showing the time it was first viewed for the day as it only updates once.
