I don’t see how it would hurt your chances. Their admissions operates independently of one another, so I don’t see why would even be an issue. If you are a qualified applicant with a lot to offer, Seattle won’t turn you down simply because you applied to Tacoma or Bothell. You mentioned before that you were concerned about not having 90 credits; don’t be. I applied with 70 and had 85 at the time I entered the Seattle Campus. My GPA was pretty high, but yours is well within the norm for a transfer student.

Thank you for your response @Jsmith210! The waiting game is awful.

is it going to be harder for me to transfer in as an out of state student?

@piratekate17 I don’t know if anyone knows for sure, but I’ve heard that it’s significantly harder to get in as an out of state student. The stats line up too - only 15% of all the students at UW are from out of state. I’m sure it depends on all of the other aspects of your application though so don’t lose hope! :)

Hey Everyone!

I’m also a Winter 2015 transfer applicant, but I followed the WA 45 and so I applied with 50 credits; I am currently taking 15 more.
I plan on pursuing public health and finished about 3/4 of my pre reqs.
I attend South Puget Sound Community College.

Statistic(s):

(3.30 GPA) I know it’s fairly low, I didn’t do to well my first three quarters as I juggled with some issues and didn’t know what I wanted to do. It is an upward trend, so I’m feeling a little better. Received a 4.0 during the summer for both my classes.

I hope everyone here gets in Good luck.

@piratekate17 From what I’ve read and heard, yes. UW gives priority to in-state transfer applicants, I saw a post from about a year ago stating that 90% of those accepted from instate transfers. You never know, I heard the chance of getting accepted is a little higher in the Winter.

@UWchancemeh welcome to the thread glad to see others applying with less than 90 credits!

@Andielle thanks! Glad I found this thread, helps with the waiting game. I’m sure you’ll be just fine!good luck.

Hi everyone, I also am awaiting notice of admission or rejection, but would be transferring from another four year college in California. @piratekate17 it is much harder to get into the University of Washington from out of state, and mores so from a four year college. I applied last fall quarter and was denied admission, this is going to be my second try. Yet know it’s possible because another student transferred from my school to UW, but I am not sure what his circumstances were. I’m just praying for the best! Good luck to everyone. I’m here waiting with you.

@socalsea That’s awesome! Hey, there’s always a chance. I read in a previous thread about a transfer from WWU here in Washington State. He was also rejected the first time around but managed to get in on his second or third try. Best of luck to you.
I’m so nervous, its sickening at times haha.

@potatomawnster Hey, seems like you’re pretty experienced with all this!
I was wondering if you know of anyone that has been able to successfully appeal a denial.
I have yet to receive my letter, but am preparing for the worst.
If so, do you have any tips? I read that only 5% of appeals actually get accepted :/

Also, if you could chance me that would be awesome. Here are my stats:

SPSCC Cum GPA: 3.30 (4.0 last quarter, currently a 4.0 or better in all my classes. I heard an upward trend looks better than a downward trend but idk how true that statement is)

HS uw GPA: 3.36

ACT: 25

Credits: Will have 60 by the time I enter UW (If I get in) I do have one W on my transcript as I switched majors but I spoke about it in my essay.

Essay: I would say it’s strong, I wrote about why my grades fell senior year and into my first three quarters at SPSCC. I also wrote about what sparked my passion for public health and disability studies.

Major: Public Health, finished most of my pre requisites but have a couple left. (Only offered at UW so I couldn’t take it)

It it means anything I am 19 y/o, Asian American, male, and my dad is in the military.

thanks!

I’m waiting on a verdict! I’m transferring from an Idaho CC with my AA. 3.6GPA, 33ACT, volunteer work, athletics, and music. Good luck to all of you!

What is this transcript trick that was mentioned earlier?

@whitechiner welcome to the thread
The transcript trick is basically a method for checking whether you have been accepted or not before the actual letter is delivered. Go onto your uw net account and click on financial aid. Once you have done so, click on unofficial transcript at the top, if it loads it USUALLY means that you have been accepted. Best of luck to you. Two of my best friends tried to transfer from Idaho during this fall but was sadly rejected You can do it though!

*were

Thanks @UWchancemeh I appreciate the help. Hopefully I won’t suffer the same fate as your friends haha. I checked the transcript trick and it didn’t work so here’s to waiting. When do the responses usually get sent out?

@whitechiner don’t stress! I’m pretty sure it hasn’t come out for anyone yet. There’s still about two-three weeks until it’ll most likely start working (last week of October for those that are accepted in the earlier half of November)

@UWchancemeh oh thank god. I’ll keep my eyes open, thanks for your help!

@whitechiner No problem. I spoke to my friend who transferred back in 2012 during the Winter and he said that he was able to see his transcript load around the last week of October (and that was most likely the first batch so there’s still like two weeks). I’m so nervous haha, this waiting game sucks. May I ask what you’re planning on majoring in?

Does anyone know if acceptance letters are sent out in late November as well or are most sent out early - mid November?

@Andielle it sure does! But from patterns that I’ve been observing, the people that get their letter in the later half are usually those that are rejected. It’s just an observation, I’ve seen people getting in during the later half too.
