Just desperately made this account so that I can talk with you about UWC. It has been my wish to get in for the last year. I’m from the Netherlands - and yes, we do have an UWC, I think it has been a real good contribution to the community of Maastricht so far - and I’ve submitted my forms around 4 weeks ago. I expect to receive the results of the first round next week and only the idea makes me so anxious!

Question: in the case I get accepted I’ll be repeating one extra year of high school: I’m now in the second last class, but I think it’s definitely worth it. Are there more of you applying which would also repeat one year?

I would like to go Pearson, Li Po Chun, Adriatic or Mostar. But Pearson on 1, because of the water activities, the small comunity and sea marine course :D

…ooh and for those who has set Maastricht high on the list, it’s a very cool college!! And in 2013 they’re getting a wonderful new school building one some type of artificial island (see link and the little buildings are the residents, left is secondary school and right is primary). So no biking to school anymore, and by the way today on my way to school I’ve slipped with my bike thanks to the icy roads OUCH!

Good luck! Most of the U.S. students repeat a year in order to attend a UWC. I don’t think it matters. It’s such a different life that students seem to really enjoy it. The U.S. is great, too. It has a beautiful setting with mountains all around. While there aren’t water sports, there are wilderness camping, hiking and ski trips.

Waiting is so agonizing! Where are you guys from? Good luck on your interviews! They said I should know if I get one by the 22nd or 23rd, I am so anxious!

yea same- no idea about the presentation… :S i wonder what the activities are…how many colleges are you saying ‘YES’ to on the college choices form? :)

Hi everyone, sorry I’m new to the conversation! I’ve applied to UWC and got an interview! I live in the UK so I’ll be interviewed at Atlantic College, might see some of you there? I got the emails that were sent out to us but some of the attatchments aren’t working properly and I was wondering if it would be possible for anyone to email me/forward me the email with the attachments on it? that would be great!

Hi, everybody! I’m from Texas in the United States. I know how y’all feel about being super nervous, so I want to wish y’all good luck. This school has been my dream since I was a little girl. My grandma used to work there and so I grew up surrounded by UWC ideals. She used to take students into the mountains of New Mexico at our cabin for conflict resolution retreats where they would study ways of solving problems and healthy ways of compromise. Anyway, if any of y’all wanna talk about our applications, I’d love to. I’m Madelene Wales Travis, so feel free to add me on Facebook. These are my top choices:
Norway. My absolute first choice.
Wales. So beautiful!! And in a 12th century castle.
Swaziland. I wish I could find more blogs and pictures of this campus.

I would really love any of them though, although I feel a strong connection with the school in Norway.

Hi everyone! I’m from Maryland in the United States and I’m super excited (and nervous) to hear from them in a couple days. I only found out about it last summer so I’m afraid I might not have much to offer them…I’ve been stalking the websites since then so I really hope I have a chance at the interview. It’s my dream to go there. If I drop off the face of this website in 4 days, you’ll know why. I’d love to hear about if people got interviews though… Good Luck!

Congrats to everyone who got interviews… realize that you’re excellent for having even got one, but you’ll be competing with an excellent group of applicants.

And enjoy the day! It’s a lot of fun and you make some great connections (I just met up with someone from my interview, even though they were rejected).

Only a few more days until we find out! I am from Idaho and I am extremely nervous. Good luck to all of you that sent in applications! I learned about UWC-USA through HOBY, I got a pamphlet in the mail and it was an answer to my prayers, everything about the school seems so magical. Best of luck to everyone, it is a timely process but soon enough we will know!
