Mm…If you were to rank the UWCs purely by the food made in their native area, where would you guys most want to go? (I’m getting better at thinking of questions!)

Italy!! Mmm, gelato! Then probably China, but I feel like the Chinese food that I like is a worlds apart from what is actually eaten in China. Then maybe India, but the same goes for this one. Hmm, thats a hard one!

I’m definitely with lindzmm on that one! Gelato is heaven, plus I adore lasagne my favorite Italian dish ever! If I had to rank them, it would be Hong Kong because of the massive variety japanese-Chinese-German they’ve got it, then Italy because durp a durp no brainer, India curry is a staple food where I live and lastly Costa Rica me likely the Mexican and Latin food.

India (Love the spicy food!), Italy (Pastas, gelatos, need I say more?), Costa Rica, umm? How is the food in the UK? American is nothing special in my mind. I wonder what the food in Swaziland or Bosnia is like …

I’d go Italy first as well, then USA actually (because of the Southwestern food! mm :D), then…Costa Rica, perhaps, because FRUIT. Then India, Hong Kong, and Wales are basically tied (for some reason I like UK food, even though it’s not that different from food here. But I’ll make myself a full English breakfast whenever I have all the ingredients and the time, for example).

I would have to say Hong Kong first since the food there looks AMAZING in pictures. Then perhaps the USA/canada in a sentimental way since I miss them. Uhhhhhh then India I think.

English and Italian food probably last for me, but you never know I could be wrong haha. And I don’t know enough about the rest to say!

@Knoxandonyx day to day English food is very multicultural like any other country with a large immigrant population, and I love that. But very traditional food is like roast dinner, shepherds pies, others pies, pasties, beer…most people love it but since I don’t like pastry my options are pretty limited XD oh and chutney, crumble, custard and flaming Christmas pudding

@applesauce21 Aye, don’t forget yer Haggis and yer Black pudding! There’s also this tendency to deep fry things in Scotland, for example: the deep fried mars bar, deep fried pizza and deep fried whatever. Then there’s mince and tatties (ground beef and potatoes) and stovies (mixed potatoes and beef with a biscuit on top).

Haha the deep fried mars bar is legend in our house. A tale once told to us by Glaswegian friends. But the legend be true! :P

Hi I’m Mario from Lebanon. I’ll be applying very soon. I don’t really have any preferences about which UWC I want to go to. I just have a few questions about life style at the colleges?

Where do you exactly do your personal stuff for example: Cutting your hair, Washing your clothes and such.

Thanks :)

@mayosauce Hello fellow sauce person you have dorms which you share with two other people, and then either bathroom in the dorm or in the do building i suppose

Ahh thank you :). Are they strict about staying on campus or…

Hey there! I’m from Bangladesh and I’m applying for the 2013 session. My preferences were UWC-USA, UWCSEA or adriatic, but they offer any one, from the NC, so I have options between Mahindra and LPC, and I was wondering if anyone could help me out? Just some general info about LPC or Mahindrah that doesn’t apply to the other UWC’s and/or sets it apart?
Also, Is there anyone else on the forum applying to Either of those UWC’s for the coming session?
Thanks!

Well, I would love to go to LPC above all, but in my country we apply to the national committee not the individual colleges, so I’m not sure what you mean - sorry ><
@mayosauce it depends on the college. Some like in Singapore and the Netherlands have multiple campuses and so you HAVE to leave haha. And some a part of a city/community which you mingle with (LPC and Italy). Others are very isolated (RNCUWC) so for your own safety you probably stick retry close to campus

Same here; we apply to the National Committee, too. Only we have to list our preferences in order from the options given, and since I was thinking of applying to the NC for LPC, I was just wondering if anyone else was too? Since different NC’s provide different options to its students… :)

I would love to be able to show preference haha, but I think I’d have to get I interview stage (HA!) to even have the possibility of the luxury

However for me, I love the LPC location, ethos, food, building, subjects, volunteering opportunities, creative opportunities, school trips, Asian cultures, Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters, religions, psychology, history, politics, economics and people. So yeah: id like to go there most XD

I’ve been checking this forum daily since like day one, I was considering participating in the conversation back then but the application process hasn’t started yet in my country, not until now. However, the application will soon be published so I guess I am allowed to be excited now regarding the food, I already know that the food in ac isn’t good, with students commenting that the food in the prison nearby is probably better. In CR and LPC, I heard the food is good. In PC, it’s traditional, they do eat fish a lot. That’s all I can remember for now…

Applesauce: Ahh, I see. Thanks for explaining that. And yeah! Same here; I love Asian cultures too! What would your second choice be after, LPC?
UWcian: Lol, same here. My country’s process only just started as well, so I decided that I could contribute to the forum now. What are your preferences? :)

The USA I think. I know I’d rather not go to the schools which aren’t just for UWC kids. But who knows haha - maybe I’m being silly

Oh, and welcome to the forum UWCian! Where are you from?
