For me I guess it’s just fingers crossed, as the likelihood of me even getting an interview is fairly low. I don’t think it’s fair to compare yourself to others as everyone is different, and will do better in somethings more than others - it’s more about what you can bring and what potential you have more than what you have already done. If anyone went to the Open Day at Atlantic last month, at the Q & A, the director of admissions was asked why people aged 15-16 were expected to do lots of voluntary hours or EC’s, and he said it wasn’t the case - it’s more about what you can do and what you can bring to it.

@ripcity14 in the USA and Canada I heard that the percentage was around 9%. I worked out on the figures that 200 people apply and 40 people get in a 20% for the UK. It’s probably around that figure for most countries

I keep fluctuating between feeling confident about my application- I’ve worked hard, my grades are good, my ECs are interesting, I have a chance, etc.- and total panic attacks because i’m so intimidated by everyone else- WHY HAVENT I ENDED WORLD HUNGER?! Everyone else on here has!

@okp1000, thanks for posting the brochure! I didnt realize that they would be accepting 13-19 year olds. I wonder if some of the bigger schools (like Dilijan which will have 650 students!) are less UWC-y… Any one have any feelings on that?

I know the feeling! I keep thinking I’m prepared and then I finally caught up on this thread… You have a nervous wreck right here. I’m applying from the USA and my preferences are AD, RCN, Mostar, and Maastricht. Is the acceptance rate really 9% for the US? AH that really makes me scared. I keep getting excited and then I tell myself not to get too excited but I can’t help it :)

For me I keep switching between elation at the prospect of applying and getting shortlisted and being accepted, and depressions in the face of those odds.

@Ripcity14, those thoughts are all too familiar to me (and probably most people on this thread) :)

And to anyone: do any of you guys know of any good student blogs? I’ve read about a million of them, but for certain colleges- like AD, CR, Maastricht- I havent been able to find blogs, or else the ones I do find are very sparse and unhelpful…

@lalalarae, that was one of the first ones i read when i first started my obsession with the UWCs it really was a nice blog. Most of the other ones i’ve read are infrequent infrequent in updates. Annoyingly, most dont talk much about academics either, but focus instead on the activities…

There’s quite a few blogs on tumblr about UWC. If you guys have a tumblr you can just search uwc or united world colleges in the search bar. That’s how I found most of them.

@tecz77 I just found [Mostar Blogs](http://blogs.mostar.me/) I haven’t read any of these yet… and most of them are in languages other than English, but that’s what translate is for I wish I could find out more about each different UWC school’s IB program! When (IF) I am selected for UWC one of my goals is to have a good blog for the little appliers of 2014

@okp1000 Thank you with my extreme addiction to anything UWC related I’m sure I will find all of these blogs entertaining and helpful. Oh I never asked… Where are your top choices?

@lalalarae mine are Mahindra then Waterford then Costa Rica. After looking at the website for the new one being built in Armeina I would actually love to go there even though it is new.

I’ll have to check tumblr. I’ve stumbled upon some of the blogs from tumblr, but never actually searched Tumblr itself.
Also, I’m sure most of you guys know this, but most people who have a blog do usually post links to their friends blogs. There is quite a bit of overlap between the links, but its easier to search through those links than just google it…

@aureleo, about the open day, yeah that really encouraged me. It’s good they select with National Committees because it’s very different like what you can do in the UK and the US…
