UWC applicants year 2014

@tecz77, lol sorry for that. I know that you use Fahrenheit in America but it is so obvious for me to use Celsius that I forgot about that. We’ve learnt converting Celsius to Fahrenheit and to Kelvin and I know how to but I don’t really like that.
Another thing is that we use metre, centimetre, and litre and kilo here. While the British use foot, inch, pounds, stones and so on. And when I read the news in English then I always have to convert everything in my head. But I think that is something one has to get used to while living at UWCs.

@MediDuet, I thought the British used cm and metre and the Americans used foot and inch.

Wow, sounds like everybody wants to go to muwci or rcn.
I don’t know if your countries send many people every year, but Belgium doen’t so I made a list of where everyone was send to the last couple of years, and in the last 10 years there’s been only one Belgian student in rcn (and that one person is from this year) :o
I know it’s probably creepy I made the list, but now I can guess what the chances are I get send to the country I prefer  AND I can see how many people go every year.
The fact that there are more and more people that can go every year motivates me that it IS possible for me. :)

@lalalarae hell yeah! Especially on the tube/bus and it’s really crowded and blehhh it’s disgusting!!

@WorldViewer, I want to go to Adriatic. :)

The British use metric measurements like you @MediDuet

@MediDuet that’s nice, at the infodays I spoke to someone who went there ;)

@Hedwig8, then I am sorry. But now I don’t understand why there are always pounds and stones and foot and inch in British news and films and so on. :/

@WorldViewer, I totally love that College. But sadly I can’t go to our openday. :(

@MediDuet, The British used to use feet, and inches, and pounds etc., but they now use and teach metres and the like, though the imperial system is still sometimes used, especially by older people…

Don’t get me started on heat and mosquitoes! After living in Tunisia (in the Mediterranean) for 8 years, I have had quite enough. It was so nice to come back to the UK this summer and now I like get so excited when I see frost in the mornings and stuff! In Tunisia, temperatures vary between (in Celsius) around 8-9 in winter to 45-48 in summer… And there are sooo many mosquitoes!

does everyone wanna go to norway because of the red cross? how immersed is it

@Pashay, thank you so much!
@teenagecrime, yes, I do. But RCN is ‘only’ the second on my list of preferences.

Have you guys wondered which subjects you’d choose for IB? Or you don’t think ahead and will only think about that if you get in?

@MediDuet what is your first choice? And I’m thinking Maths Studies, English, English Lit, Physics, History, Religious Studies and Psychology. I’ll probably drop English Lit though, but just wanna try it out for a week.

@RipCity14, my first one is Adriatic.

I honestly don’t mind where I go… I want to do standard maths (probably change to maths studies later), biology(/chemistry), maybe visual arts or English lit&lang and higher history, French and either another humanity or English literature&lang

I am actually very torn between a couple of the UWCs besides RCN I really like RBUWC, AD, Hong Kong, and Maastricht! I love the red cross part of RCN and I would probably join the Red Cross team there  Can you take more than three higher level classes? I would probably take Math HL, English Lang and Lit HL, History HL?Global Politics HL?Political Philosophy SL?, Spanish ab initio SL, Chemistry HL?Biology HL, and I don’t know about the last one… maybe one of the previous. Could I do a self-taught course for Latin?

@lalalarae, wow thank you so so soo much! I guess I will have even worse feelings towards my homeworks as I’ll always want to read blogs instead of doing homework.

@MediDuet it is so tempting  this is how I’m going to be spending my whole week off!

@lalalarae, I have school untill 22nd December so I think I’ll only take rading days in the winter holiday. And I also have to finish my apps. But I want to do that before the break.
Have a good time reading the blogs!
