I am completely torn between the University of Wisconsin Madison and The Ohio State University. Wanna help a high school senior out por favor?

While OSU has improved, it does not have the academics of UW.

that’s what I was thinking. Do you know anything about the crime rates?

Neither is too bad in that area. OSU is closer to some slums but slum-dwellers in Madison have taken to robbing some students near campus as of late so it’s not as solidly safe as it was when I was there which angers me. The police are stepping up late night patrols to catch the thugs. I think they wil llearn it’s too dangerous and they will get caught quickly.

^^“While OSU has improved, it does not have the academics of UW.”

Agreed!! lol

Madison is a pretty nice city overall, and Madison is a fantastic school.

The only thing that could really give Ohio State the lead is if you’re a National Merit Finalist, in which case I believe you can go to Ohio State for free–at Madison, they give out small and somewhat-competitive scholarships for National Merit.

When I need an example of a mediocre undergraduate education I point at Ohio State. Go with Wisconsin.

^^^heheee, hilarious

okaay, uwm is definitely my first choice, thank you all soo much =D

Back to the OP’s original question, It really depends on whether you want a school that is good at major sports or not. ;)

i see you’re from ohio…
and i wonder which school youre talking about…?? hehehee
but honestly, i love watching ohio state play football, which was one of the reasons it was my first choice

As an tOSU alumnus, I guess I consider myself lucky then…lol

I live right across from NU’s Medical Campus here in Streeterville, the guy who lives right above me attended Princeton, next door to me went through NU’s BS/MD program, across from my room attended JHU for undergrad, and I have just given them lecture on pharmacokinetics related to pathology downstairs in our building’s conference room with another HMS fellow, in addition to helping them Aced Step I of USMLE last month. (YET, I’m constantly humbled by God here at NMH…) My apology for going off-topic a bit…

Anyway, in my motherland, there is an old saying that if you are a cow, it doesn’t matter where you go - you are a cow. (P.S. no disrespect to cows, they are quite smart imho). G’Luck! :)
