V.I.P - What are my chances of getting into PRINCETON? LOL

whoa, calm down. i think the problem is that people see a "paid essay" as another person's work and not his own. the question is, how much "editing/perfecting" was done to his essay.

lol i dont even know why im arguing this...but i do love to argue...im not really even sure what my point is...im just saying that unless you know all the facts...you cant label something unethical

There is little more obnoxious than people criticizing someone for posting their stats and asking their chance at a certain school, regardless of how good the person's stats are, in the "what are my chances?" thread. Just don't reply... or give him legitimate advice or something that is less... well... b_itchy.

lol, yeah. i can kind of tell that you like arguing.

i don't think we will know all the facts, no matter what Princetonfreak says, because we all have different standards of what is "unethical" or not.

lol exept the weird thing about me is that i always choose to argue against the majority instead of with them...hmmmm

but yes your right...and i guess in the end we all choose for ourselves

haha. Morgan- you might turn into the next Ralph Nadar :p!!

i know how you feel morgan. sometimes i just feel this overwhelming desire to be argue against the majority for no reason. we could be talking about anything, and i will randomly argue against everyone. i think it's because i'm extremely rebellious and i don't like the idea of someone telling me what to do or think, (even if it is the right thing).

good think im not going into law/politics! lol

If you can come across as a human being you're in. I had slightly better SATs than you but also lacked any really great ECs, and I was accepted. The key is to seem like the sort of person that someone might want to have as a roomate. For God's sake don't trumpet that no abscences thing - it makes you seem like a robot. With good essays you have an excellent shot.

Thank You very much for your benign, malignant and antagonistic responses. Most of the responses were talking about how unethical I am, and that i am an egotistical moron. I did not expect such responses from the community at college confidential, and i am slightly disappointed. However, the few posts that exhibted constructive criticism were good to read. When it comes to jealousy and pure ignorance, i now know which members of this community fit under these categories. If you want continue replying as to what my chances are and how i can not portray myself as a "robot" or "pompous" person.

You buffoon. How you portray yourself is half the challenge of getting accepted, let alone succeeding in life. That's why people commented on that aspect of your overall application. Essays matter big time, and if that aura of arrogance seeps into your writing, then you are, for lack of a better word, screwed.

i mean u most def got the stats and the extracurriculars to go in. But just hope u got a good essay and that person that perfected it didnt rip you off.

Expand that statement, what CLUBS?

Based on that statement, I will say you have a solid chance at princeton. You will at least make it to the "Academically Qualified" Pile.

ahjhahahah good luck getting in as an indian! ivy leagues are crawling with indian students - an girl in my class got into UPenn, however she applied as hispanic/latino, greatly boosting her chances (Apparently, she's part mexican)

what is the "Boost my ego? Are you jealous of my record or is something else nagging you?
I just asked a simple question and besides, this is the "what are my chances thread?""

crap all about. quit acting like a jerk. you want us to tell us that you'll get in, but I hope you don't.

PRINCETONFREAK YOU ARE IN. GREAT STATS. and I am sure your BS essay is great especially now that you got it fixed up by some paid english guru. EXCELLENT MOVE. you deserve to go to PRINCETON and HARVARD AND YALE TOO. stay away from stanford that school is for new age retards. dont listen to these jealous weasels they paid for their essays too but are playing it straight. I think its great if you think these adcoms can spot a phony now way they are sick of reading the BS anyway probably by the 500th lame ass essay they are playing pick up stix with the essays on the floor. Also hell I cant write to save my life so I rather give somebody a couple of bucks to fix it than turn in some crap. if you dont get into to PRinceton apply to Vanderbilt the number one PARTY SCHOOL IN THE SOUTH. HAVE A LITTLE FUN FOR THE NEXT 4 YRS. GOOD LUCK AND IGNORE THE LIARS

lol...................

The NIH internship was basically one where i worked with other scientists on a genome project. It was ultra competitive to get in to. I was president of National Honors Society, French Honors Society, and Science Honors Society.
Along with a club i founded called "La Cuisine". The "It's Academic" club is basically a ntaionwide competition where students are quizzed on a jeapoardy like quiz show.

U better not become my roomate ...

la cuisine a club? you should have applied to cornell cooking school.

PrincetonFreak, I think there's maybe been a slight misunderstanding between you and a lot of the people who've responded to you. Lots probably thought you were posting those stats to get a rise out of them, while I really believe you're honestly concerned about your chances (like 99.9% of the other people who take the trouble to post to this board!)

That said, your stats are excellent. I take my hat off to you. As to your ecs, the community service is impressive, but what's most impressive, I think (esp since you want to be a doctor) is the NIH internship. On your application PLEASE emphasize this--it's really, really prestigious and, as you know, most high school seniors have never done research; it's a standout thing. If you have clubs of which you're the president/you spend a lot of time with them, it'd probably be a good idea to emphasize those too.

As to your having "paid" to have someone look over your essay--all y'all commenters, I had maybe a thousand people look over mine, and I'm sure a lot of y'all did too; quite a lot of these were really brilliant people. I don't really see a qualitative difference between what we did and what the OP did.
