Today SPS began vaccinating all students over 16 (with parental permission.) Everyone gets Pfizer and the second shot will be given before they leave for the summer.
Taking this topic forward a bitā¦Lville will be requiring the vaccine for all school community members who are eligible for next school year.
I predict this will be common policy. Anything else interesting came out of your fall info session?
A George School parent told me they are doing vaccines on campus (Pfizer). I think she said next week.
It was all very positive. The school is planning on a very close to normal year, including a very intentional orientation because new students didnāt get it last year. All of this is contingent on the 12-15 vaccine being approved and available, and for Covid numbers continuing to improve but they are assuming athletics will be in full swing, houses will be at full capacity (sounds like theyāre overenrolled at 838), day students will have free reign of houses again, remote learning wonāt be an option, masks and Pom readers still up in the air. Masks would only be inside in specific cases and Pom readers would help to quickly identify an outbreak. Likely to have some surveillance testing. Undecided about visiting team spectators. Travel programs likely to resume in 2022. Indoor dining and class capacity will be based on NJ rules. I think thatās it . Definitely the most positive Covid update weāve gotten from the school. Iām just waiting for that FDA approval now!!
Thank goodness for that! Also waiting for that approval. I really hope it will be in May.
A teacher of mine has mentioned that they may begin to experiment with 3 feet distancing later on in this term, although it was said in passing so Iām not absolutely sure.
PA just announced that close to 1/2 the student body and about 85% of the campus adults have gotten at least 1 dose.
Also announced NO remote option at all this coming Fall.
Also announced mandatory vaccinations for students 16+ for the Fall, and presumably will move to āall studentsā when 12-15 yos are eligible.
Santa Barbara just went into a lower-level tier, so Cate is opening up a bit more as of today. 3 ft distance, some indoor spaces are back in use at 25% capacity, and they actually did an all-school assembly for the first time in over a year (in their outdoor amphitheater). Hooray!
95% of adults are vaccinated, and 50% of the kids have has at least one shot. Amazing progress.
It would be great to have all on-campus students back around the harkness table! We are in town visiting kiddo and itās wonderful seeing campus āaliveā again.
It is such a beautiful weekend. I hope you are enjoying your visit!
Fda expected to approve Pfizer 12-15 vaccine this week!
Itās happeningāa teacher of mine just spoke about bringing more desks into the classroom so the whole class could fit in with only 3 feet between each person, beginning in the next few days.
Great news. Itās about time!
Choate will require approved age groups to be vaccinated in the fall and/or may vaccinate on site. I believe the health center is handling vaccination for the surrounding town.
update: most at loomis who is 16+ already took 1 shot of the vaccine with the next shot offered later this week (may 12)! vaccination records are also required for entry to school next year.
Lville will be vaccinating all willing students on Friday. I could not be more excited!
SweetBoy is attending Interlochen this summer. Within an hour of the FDA approval we got a long email requesting that kids be vaccinated if at all possible. The stick was reminding people that vaccinated students didnāt fall under the āclose contactā rule for quarantine during their very expensive summer camp experience.. I Imagine vaccination rates will be high. All adult staff required to be vaccinated.
I suspect we will get a similar email from kiddo2ās summer camp. And for that exact reason, heāll be getting his first one Sunday.
And just like that, we received the camp email outlining the benefits of our children being fully vaccinated upon arrival.
