Valedictorian Planning to go to Community College

...Not really, but it's the best attention-grabber I could think of at the moment.

I'm another one of those paranoid, insecure teenagers worrying about college acceptence and the like, so it would be nice if you could reassure me or tell me "no way moron."

Columbia
NYU
SUNY Stonybrook
Fordham
Harvard (ha-ha)
SUNY Binghampton

Should I apply to anything else?

Rank: 3/245

Okay, so my teacher recommendations so far are pretty awesome; and my essay is coming out just like they want it: focused. So my chances? And would applying to Cornell ED (or any of the aforementioned colleges) have increased my chances of getting in?

this might be a dumb question, but how do you know you're an intel semifinalist already?

Good point^^^^^^

maybe Siemens Westinghouse?

I should have clarified that, but I mean "projected" - or at least I hope. Our school usually hs 2 people that get into the semi-finals. But yeah, I guess it's bad to make assumptions :(.

Your ECs are week.

Weak? For what reason? And am I getting in or not...

And I didn't list any actual awards I have won in the conferences I have attended, I just gave a laundry-list of what organizations I am a part of. However I would appreciate it if people would try to give me some answers, despite this double-post :x.

No way moron.

Cornell - rejected
Columbia - rejected
NYU - rejected
SUNY Stonybrook - rejected
Fordham - rejected
Harvard (ha-ha) - Negative 500% of getting in (they'll send you 5 rejection letters)
SUNY Binghampton - rejected for sure
JHU - no chance

What is the meaning of the 9's and 10's next to your EC's? Are you rating ourself?

Overall, your EC's gives me an immediate impression that you are a transcript leech. It doesnt seem like you are passionate about anything. You kind of did everything your high schoole offered in order to get into a college of your choice, instead of doing activities that you really like and/or want to help better.

Not to mention, your corniness will probably show in your application. You dont sound mature at all for your academic achievements. Sorry to say this, but I think you would rather have me be honest. I can tell you tried to add humor into the thread title, but it was just corny....

Also, what school in NY do you go to?

Are these people serious? Why is everyone so pessimistic about everyone? What kind of profile DOES get into the schools the OP listed?

You are a very very solid candidate. Now your essays have to make you shine like crazy. Because all the Ivies care about is attracting the weirdest, motliest group of people they can get their hands on. Who also are really good academically (but you have that).

Chances threads make me sick sometimes (and yet I've posted...three?!)

Oh my god. you're asian (bangali)?

Don't you spell it BENGALI??????????

ok if you spelled your nationality wrong...
that would be horrible. (or maybe im ignorant and dont know the spelling of bengali)

either way. you seem smart and have a great number of extracurriculars. you have as good shot as anyone else.

No, he didnt spell it wrong. I am also bangali.

It's kind of obvious. Your ECs do look a bit long-winded though.

No way, you are doin activities just to boost your resume and it shows.

The nubmer next to the EC is the grade she was in when she did it.

Wow.

Dont mention ECs you did th 8th grade. Dont even mention ECs you did in 9th grade only.

Bengali
One entry found for Bengali.

Main Entry: Ben·gali
Pronunciation: ben-'go-lE, be[ng]-
Function: noun
Etymology: Hindi BangAlI, from BangAl Bengal
1 : a native or resident of Bengal

There is no entry for "bangali"

"Bangali" is how you spell it in Bangladesh :) Stop trying to teach this guy how to spell his nationality.

God, why are we being so mean to this guy? Sheesh.

Anyway, to Mr. Bangali or whatever, your scores get you in at the SUNY's and probably NYU. NHS VP is good, so is MUN Prez...so perhaps JHU? Your ECs seem OK, I guess. Don't list like 50 clubs, just pick a central few (like 5?)
