Decent extracurriculars like roles of leadership at my boarding school and founded an entrepreneurship club as well as some work experience at an investment manger. Also I play the guitar and I am in a band.
Didn’t do an interview because I decided to apply quite late and didn’t do a tour.
Decent essay on my role as Deputy head of house at my school.
Got rejected from Duke ED so did not expect this at all
Last year Vandy admitted 453 students from their Wait List for a total of 1,604 enrolled students. That’s is over 28% of the their enrolled class. Vandy Common Data Set link
@DrSenioritis agree! This is what I posted above. It was about 15%. Last year (well this year 2019-2020) we don’t have a final CDS yet. But Vandy is known for using its waitlist more than many other colleges.
Look - I realize that everybody loves the 453 number, but all I was doing was stating what VANDERBILT actually published in their FAQ. The fact is, they are looking over the last 5 years, and the 453 from 2019 was about 3-4x all of the trailing 4 years before that. I’m not trying to prove all the other numbers wrong, or be the debbie-downer, I was merely repeating what Vanderbilt actually published.
Good to luck to everybody, and let’s hope this year is closer to the 453 than the previous years.
I wish they filled out the numbers for number offered to waitlist and number accepting a spot on the waitlist. Back in like 2014, they actually have those numbers, and only about 5% of the waitlisted students got pulled from it. Not sure if they waitlist that many student still, but it was interesting information.

Super stoked! Can’t really afford it, but I’m glad that something good finally happened to me in this crazy year called 2020.
I was accepted into Arts and Sciences today!!
Stats: 35 ACT 4.57 WGPA
However, their FA award was extremely lower than estimated. I laughed when I saw it. It was only about 1/5 of what other Private schools like Notre Dame offered me on need based scholarship and 1/5 of what Vandy estimated giving me online. I have been hearing great things about the FA program, but I really cannot afford to go to Vanderbilt at this cost. They say that Opportunity Vanderbilt is 1 in the nation but so far it is the school that offered me the least (by far)? Is anyone else in this situation? Any recommendations?
Waitlisted (does anyone know what percentage of applicants they waitlist?)
ACT: 35
GPA: 3.97 UW
5 5s on APs
Solid ECs, essays were not great because I’m not a great writer.
So far I’ve been…
Rejected by Notre Dame
Deferred by UChicago, Northeastern
Waitlisted by Vandy, UCLA
