Vanderbilt Merit Scholarships

Have all winners for all scholarships already been notified, including for the additional merit scholarships (e.g., Fred Russell-Grantland Rice Scholarship)?

Is anyone seeing any portal changes?

Theyā€™ve at least begun notification for RD students. I was notified yesterday that I got a Deanā€™s Achievement scholarship into Peabody.

They do call Ingram winners over the phone; Iā€™m not sure about Chancellorā€™s or CV though

Well for Ingram 19-20 made it to finalist this year out of over 1000 applicants and ultimately around 8-10 end up getting the scholarship so about a 1% acceptance rate.

Hi so I was awarded the CV scholarship and I wanted to know if the award is added to my financial aid package or if it replaces it? I emailed the financial aid office but they havenā€™t answered.

Typically if you have additional need by their calculations above and beyond full tuition then you would also get additional need based aid

In case you were still looking for an answerā€”merit scholarships at Vanderbilt first go to pay back your financial aid, then go towards your EFC. You canā€™t stack them (because if you got a merit scholarship then you obviously need less aid).

Do you all know of anyone who earned a merit scholarship without submitting test scores? Trying to decide whether to submit scores to Vanderbilt.

From what Iā€™ve read, applying ED has no bearing on merit scholarship decisions at Vandy. You apply early, get your decision (and aid package) in December, and then find out in March whether or not you received merit aid.

Merit aid is a tool to attract strong students, but also as a yield tool. So Iā€™m trying to understand if it can possibly be the case that ED studentsā€”who are already bound to goā€”are considered the same way for these awards, when the awards could used to entice accepted-but-not-committed students who are considering other elite schools.

I guess my question is: does anyone have experience with ED and merit aid at Vandy? Or insight into the process?

should I submit 1470 to vanderbilt ED as an international student

Not sure

does anyone know what is involved in the Cornelius Vanderbilt application? Am I correct you cannot even see the scholarship app until you submit your admission app? My S23 is just trying to allow himself enough time for the scholarship app (but he has finals this week and wants to wait until next week to work on the Vandy supplementals.)
Thanks.

Yes - once you submit the application then the merit scholarship questions are available. My daughter submitted the app last week and the scholarship questions were then made available. There is only one Vanderbilt supplemental essay and one Cornelius essay - he should have enough time to focus on both after his exams if heā€™s focused and is willing to do some work during the holiday.
