Vanderbilt MS(Computer Science) or Boston University Metropolitan College MS(Software Development)

Need to select between these two schools. There is about 6k tuition fee difference between the two which is not a deciding factor for me as Vanderbilt is currently offering a 30k grant for the program.
I see that Vanderbilt as a university(Rank 14) is ranked well above BUMC(Rank 42) as per US news. However being from outside the US, I have never heard of this school. BU seems like a more recognizable name.

I already work in a big tech and I am enrolling to further my career. I feel a good brand name college would be more helpful. Appreciate all your thoughts. Thanks.

Vanderbilt University is a highly regarded and very prestigious school. It was endowed by the Vanderbilt family, once one of the wealthiest families in America.

Metropolitan College at BU is primarily for part time evening students. Boston University is recognizable because it is named for a city.

You may want to check the strengths of both these programs in your area of interest. Don’t know much about the fame of Vanderbilt in CS or engineering but BU is a well known name in these - but don’t know about this Metro college you are referring to. (As another example Georgia Tech may not have the fancy brand name of Harvard, but when it comes to engineering or CS, is way ahead in every field of it relative to the former). The opportunities around in Boston are also bountiful for almost any field of study. You may also want to go through the respective department web sites and get a feel of faculty, their fields of endeavor and recognitions and how they are aligned to your own interests, funding etc to factor in.

Another thing for your consideration wrt Boston, how close is this Metropolitan college to BU main campus? How close can your interactions be with the core CS faculty of BU? Can you take classes at the main campus? BU will be awarding the Masters degree at the conclusion?

MET College is on the BU campus. It has its own CS faculty separate from the CS department in the College of Arts and Sciences. The degree will be awarded by Boston University Metropolitan College.

It seems Vanderbilt is the right choice. Very much appreciate your inputs.
