Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2017]

so 17th it is

also, 15th is Saturday, so it’s more likely that they will release at 14th, since releasing on 17th would technically put them late in their intended schedule

@inordie At this point they are already late on their “intended schedule”, seems that this year they are doing their own thing. Can’t rely on precedent anymore

Hey everyone! I just made a cc account to hopefully alleviate some of the stress of waiting for y’all. I called my admissions counselor this morning and she said that the first wave will likely be released next week (if not, then the week after). Whether that is the 15th or 17th, idk. But she seemed very certain that it was not going to be this week.

Hopefully this helps both the active users and the silent readers (like myself) out there!

@yiikes Welcome! And I guess that solves the puzzle for now

Dang mid April was load of bullcrap

i would say the 15th is exactly technically the middle of april haha

@yiikes thanks so much!! <3

But 15th is saturday though. They don’t work on weekends…

You’re thinking too much into it lol. Around the 15th could mean the 14th or the following Monday. Also they apparently might decide to start the following week instead anyway

@luckybaby also, what I noticed is that not many people are applying to engineering this year. So I really hope that there’s going to be more spots available for us, unlike 2015, when ppl seemed to be getting rejected left and right for engineering lol.

So is them being late on their schedule a good thing or a bad thing for us? Does it just mean that they received a lot of applicants or they are just simply late?

if you look on the blog, they have like 5(?) new admissions counselors this year, so it’s entirely possible that they may be behind just from a large amount of new counselors getting used to things- or doing things differently

The decision release date for Regular Decision was pretty late this year so that may be why our decisions are being released later than usual

Or perhaps it was more difficult for them to decide acceptance…

C’mon now! Positive thoughts!

Wow, the freshman acceptance rate this year dropped down to 8.6%. Vandy is reaching Harvard/Stanford levels of acceptance rates.

More and more people are applying to every college every year. It’s not surprising freshman admission has dropped… From what I’ve seen Vandy commits to holding 250ish spots for transfers every year regardless of their freshman numbers. So I don’t think this impacts us too much, maybe it’ll even help us a little bit if more than expected numbers of admitted students don’t matriculate for whatever reason.

hmm it looks like they admit around 400 ppl out of 1300 applicants every year.

@inordie I also found most ppl got wl or rej in 2015. But cc is only a small pool. Hope we could be fine this year. By the way, are we likely to get our decision in the first wave? As in 2015, Engineering applicants seemed to get their decisions after many waves.
