Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2017]

NEVER

I feel bad for the poor souls who want to find out when decisions were released and attempt to sort through what will probably be >100 pages (our next goal/milestone, amirite?) of thread. At least we’re planning ahead with the decision-only thread.

Remember we created that other thread to post decisions in when they come, This is a good time for reminder to use that thread, since, if we do not use it, nobody will every be able to access the valuable information we have for them.

@usualhopeful They are really gonna be weirded out by the time they hit the 89th page XD. They might think that we were having a mental breakdown about the decisions with our pic change craze.

@Mastodon97 I mean, would they be wrong?

meow

well they wont be able to see the pics being posted In hindsight, as it is applied to all of your posts.

@usualhopeful As evidenced by @inordie reincarnation as a cat, they definitely wouldn’t be wrong

Guys I just want all of my decisions now, I’m tired and nervous and stressed :frowning:

@VaishS between northwestern and Vandy, which one would yyou prefer, controlling for all other factors such as cost aand credit transfer

I feel like Vandy admissions officers have been perusing these last couple of pages and based on it’s content is planning on rejecting everyone who participated in the “2017 Vanderbilt Animal Picture Transfer Craze”.

Does my picture evade rejection on those grounds?

yes

@usualhopeful They might think that you are not being involved enough, and might reject you on those grounds instead.

@HopefullyIGetIn Hmm first of all I don’t really know about the credit transfer which would be a factor (I pretty much have just taken basic premed classes like bio and physics and ochem, nothing fancy- I think those would transfer to any school). If anyone has any more input on credit transfer feel free to share!!

Money-wise I know Vandy is probably going to give me significantly more money so that definitely plays a part. Unless I can like bargain with Northwestern using vandy’s aid (prob won’t work bc I doubt they think of Vandy as a peer)

However, I know I like Northwestern signifcantly more than I like Vandy.
Penn>Brown>JHU=Cornell=Northwestern>Vandy

I think if it came down to just vandy and northwestern, if Vandy had SIGNIFICANTLY more aid I would would pick it, but it Northewestern was close to comparable I would pick it.

@VaishS Understandable. I actually did not apply to northwesterm and cornell due to financial aid. I like both schools, especially northwesterm with its location and everything, but I figured both would be more expensive then vandy and that their was a very small chance I would get into one of them and not vandy, since both of their acceptance rates are much lower then vandys(if you include guaranteed transfers for cornell).

Anyways, I see what you mean

@VaishS NU doesn’t usually offer aid to transfers in their first year, right?

@usualhopeful It actually usually does- there is just a possibilty that they dont if they are running low on funds- transfers would be the first to be cut from funding.
I talked to the FA office today and they guaranteed that I would some aid and that once I got my offer I could contact them if I had issues.

that’s dope

@HopefullyIGetIn You should have!! If you get into any ivy like Penn, Cornell will match the that ivy’s FA making it prettyyyy affordable since the other ivys have good FA. Cornell is one of the more flexible schools.

Idk, I maybe shouldn’t have applied to schools like Northwestern or Cornell but really didn’t want to make FA a major limitation for myself. My FAFSA EFC is like 25,000 so yeah kinda need the aid.
