Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2017]

Mine’s like $15k until my sibling graduates, so fin aid super limited me too. On the other hand, I only had ~3.6 UW HS GPA, and really wanted a city, so any Ivy would’ve been a waste of money for me, tbh. Just 5 schools on my list, and if I don’t get into Vandy I doubt I’ll get into any others, since Vandy’s more transfer-friendly.

@VaishS my EFC is $6500, but I have to pay for college myself. So I really couldn’t envision a prospective situation where I would go to Cornell or Northwestern over Vandy. I do wish I applied to one of the “no loan” ivys as a super reach, like UPENN or Columbia. I didn’t apply to UPENN for personal reasons(I could tell you in PM) and I couldn’t convince myself I had a chance at Columbia(which was probably right lol).

I did apply to Georgetown though, Just cause I love cities and love politics

@HopefullyIGetIn My parents said that they would pay for my undergrad and I had to pay for my med school. But I still dont wanna be like"the undergrad I wanna go to is 200,000, good luck"

@VaishS yea, that makes sense. But it does give you a little more latitude with deciding where you want to go. Northwestern is dope since its so close to Chicago, but you still have that cozy, northwestern, suburban feel. ITs the best of both. Plus their football team is good

@HopefullyIGetIn Yeah, it’s great. It all just comes down to how much aid they give me and also whether or not I get into Penn (which I 99% chance won’t)

@VaishS Ayy, someone else who’s pre-med!

Also, we can totally knock out another 7 pages before the night is over.

Same deal with me. My parents will pay for pre-med, but I preferably don’t want that to be 200k

Actually wait when I made my apply list I just had Penn, Brown, Cornell, and Vandy (safety). My dad was actually the one to tell me to add Northwestern and JHU to the list- I wonder if he knew about NU’s aid

@VaishS that gives you justification to ask them to pay more!

Is it a significant advantage if I am not applying for any aid?

@VaishS just wondering, do you go to Case Western’s 7 year med program?

Hey guys let’s predict our decisions and see how close we get!!
Vandy- accepted
Northwestern-accepted
JHU- rejected
Cornell-accepted
Brown-rejected
Penn-rejected (accepted? <3)

Does that sound realistic?

they are need blind until the waitlist @sunzhaoyu

@SunZhaoyu I don’t think financial need is factored, so no, its not at all an advantage.

@SunZhaoyu not to Vandy but yes to Brown
@ILR2020 Nope!

@VaishS I’m not doing this. I’m too superstitious. But that does sound realistic definitely.

my predictions:
vandy waitlisted
northwestern rejected
uwisconsin accepted

actually too realistic it’s making me sad
here’s my hopeful list:
accepted all

I wanna get into Penn so baddddddddd

@SunZhaoyu I think it is factored! Vandy is need aware for international, but not applying for aid will not help too much because very few international students will apply for it
