Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2017]

I don’t know if people are lying, but I wouldn’t put much weight into anything about decision releases unless it came directly from an admissions officer. The people who work at the front desk/answer calls probably don’t have much insider info on where the admissions officers are in the process. Also, it’s very possible that some admissions officers are farther along in their transfer decisions than others. I expect a fair shot for everyone, but I generally think the earlier you submitted an app, the earlier you will get a decision. Some of these date estimates could be when the counselors expect to make a decision on your own app. So that could factor into the various dates we’ve been hearing.

Statistics indicate decisions should come soon (like right about today) and for a school that traditionally accepts a fair amount of transfers, it makes sense to get decisions out sooner rather than later.

As far as the release time of decisions, I think 6 cst is the safest bet. At 6, the admissions office will be closed so if you get rejected/accepted admissions officers won’t be swamped by crying/happy phone calls.

I think we should dispel with this whole notion that the front office doesn’t know what there talking about. Yes, they are force fed answers from other people, but the answers they are fed are still indicative of when decisions are coming.

@watermychances You make a very convincing point. Definitely would make sense that some people might hear different dates, because I’m guessing that these admissions people think we only want to know when ours will come out, not the time for most/all others.

Okay the counselor called back and I told him my name, my college (A&S), and why I was curious (my boyfriend). He said, decisions will come out at the end of this week or early next week, being most likely later this week but definitely not today (I asked specifically). While I got two versions within 3 hours today, probably his is more credible… but who knows right? We have got millions of answers…

Well, like @IRL2020 said, he/she/they received a very specific answer saying that decisions aren’t coming out this week.

@PsychPRC

I’m inclined to believe this one. Although we have a whole load of answers, this one seems to come straight from the source. Friday and/or next Monday it is. yaaaay

@PsychPRC ok, that seems reasonable. and it goes with what other officer was saying. So maybe that’s right.

@PsychPRC Well, based off your comment, I can finally stop refreshing my portal and close the tab for the day.

TBH, I can only tell you guys what I have been told but I truly have no idea now… It is almost completely different from what I experienced last year. Probably we should all let it go and just check randomly without expecting anything, like I did last year.

Whose counselor is Scotty Kominkiewicz?

who has arianna yarritu? she is really nice!

i do! haven’t talked to her yet but good to know @financeguyjames

Anyone else have Tricia Blumenthal?

wow- how many counselors do they have??

Anybody have Orville Parke?

I have Parke as well! @Mastodon97

@somehmonggirl Yeah, he’s the one who never responds to our emails right : /

I just sent my counselor a message and I got an automatic reply said he’s “out of the office on University business until May 1st”, so based on previous info under this thread, I guess all counselors are out of town at this time - and maybe that’s why the decision release date is postponed this year…but lets hope it will come out some time this week…

I have Orville Parke as well

@lilychan16 My counselor is Scotty Kominkiewicz. He has never answered any of my calls or emails!
