Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2018]

That was pretty crafty :)) Probably doesn’t mean anything, cuz thats something I would say if I were answering phone calls. One can only hope though…

My college transcripts should have arrived at Vandy about 4 weeks ago, but they have not been checked off my checklist yet. Neither do admission officers reply to my email. When I called them, they just send me directly to voice mail, and no reply till now as well. Very helpless…

@luckybaby Did you send the transcript yourself?

No. my school registra sent my college transcripts and college report before Mar. 15th @clemsontovandy

Hi @luckybaby, I can relate with your stress. I want to share with you that Vanderbilt got my documents rather quickly. I had to resend my HS transcript to a different school - stuff gets lost, and schools know that, so I think it’s ok. I resent the transcript to the school in question and they received it ten days later. I suspect that these schools understand that sometimes items go missing despite your best efforts, and so have some leeway with the times. I would resend your missing documents yourself just in case. Good luck on your admission!

Yes, do not worry too much! Last year when I applied to WashU as a senior in high school, my counselor had to mail in all of our high school documents. For the longest time, WashU did not acknowledge my counselor recommendation. After a week or two, I ended up calling them and it turned out that my counselor recommendation letter was caught in between some of the other papers in my file. It was all a silly mistake in the end, so hopefully it was just a silly error in indexing all your application materials

Thank you very much!! I am just pretty confused about why they never replied my email and sent me directly to voicemail when I called them. However, it’s very nice of you. And hope you and everyone else could all get into dream schools. @Doubleblind @Natedagrate13

Vanderbilt’s rolling system is so stressful. I can’t imagine waiting another month after the first wave…

@luckybaby have you contacted your admissions officer? You can send them I message through your VU portal, and they’ll get back to you pretty quickly. I did this and heard back from her in a couple days.

Yeah rolling system is definitely a test of patience, however we should not dwell on it too much. Whatever happens will happen, and I am sure all of us will be proud of our effort regardless of the decision we receive. Personally, I have put so much more effort in this application compared to my ED application last year and I am sure others can say the same!

I have sent messages through VU Portal many times, but received no reply at all. @Neurophile

Looking through the threads from 2017, 2016, and 2015 it seems like decisions start to come out around the 2nd or 3rd week of April. Almost there lol.

In case anyone is curious- I went through Vanderbilt’s Common Data Set, and for the past 3 years their transfer acceptance rate has been around 29.5%. If you’re applying to other schools I’d definitely check out their Common Data Set. It’s a good insight to their transfer acceptance rate and yield, especially since it’ll tell you how many people were taken off the waitlist

Has anyone submitted a Midterm Report for Vanderbilt?

I haven’t submitted one. I’m still waiting on midterms/grade-drops to be added.

I did @ninjawarrior17 just as a precautionary measure

2016, first decisions were released on the second Monday of April. That’s tomorrow… :-?

Guys, let’s just avoid focussing on the exact date of the first wave. We’ve made it this far, after all!

OK, for any current Vandy students watching this thread: is the social scene predicated on Greek life? While I enjoy parties, I don’t drink to excess because of my religious beliefs. Will this make it harder to make friends?

I can answer that, actually! From what I understand, around 43% of campus is Greek. So the majority of students do not participate. As far as I know, Vandy will probably continue to have a strong Greek presence, since Greek alum donate quite a lot to Vandy. On the note of making friends, I doubt you will have a hard time! Vandy was incredibly social when I hung out with some students there. Especially when it is warm, there will be a wealth of activities to do and clubs to join in order to meet more people.
