<p>@theclass i really dont think thats true about the trend being most people accepted are entering as sophomores. i think the trend is that the most people accepted apply during their sophomore year and enter for their junior year.</p>
<p>I think we’re over-thinking the sophomore/junior standing trends and how they affect admissions decisions. I’m almost certain any “qualified” student by Vandy’s standards will be admitted, regardless of their year in college.</p>
<p>I agree Sarah. It doesn’t make sense that most of the accepted students are rising sophomores. Last year rising sophomores made up 16% of applicants, so that would be about 140 students out of the 876 that applied last year. Even if every rising sophomore was accepted, they would still only make up about a third of the 376 or however many that were given admission. Maybe my numbers are off because my brain is fried by chemistry and physics, but it doesn’t seem to add up.</p>
<p>Yeah, thats right. I think what mislead us all is that someone said before “most accepted students were rising sophomores” but that just is not true. I think most are rising juniors. Glad we agree

<p>Something else to consider; many freshmen enter college already having credits or they take extra classes. For instance, I’m currently in my first year but have 49 quarter hours (69 by this quarter’s end). Any student with 48+ quarter hours (16 quarter hours/quarter) is considered a sophomore. Therefore, I’m applying with sophomore standing.</p>

<p>Don’t really have a top choice, but I would (still) seriously consider vandy even if I get into g’town.</p>

<p>Yeah it is definitely my top choice. I got into UNC Chapel Hill and I’m waiting to hear from USC and Barnard, but I would pick Vandy over all those schools.</p>
