Still waiting for my fa too. I got my letter 4 days ago too.

Has anyone been accepted off of the waitlist yet?

I sent in grades off midterm report (as of a week before finals, 4.0 with 16 credits) and told them about my internship at a Fortune 50 company this summer.

Hoping to get accepted off waitlist soon Vandy is honestly my first choice school I want to go more than anything :/

@incogneato2

What were your high school/test score stats like?

Well I just e-mailed my counselor to see what’s going on with my application; apparently she’s out for personal stuff until May 2nd, so looks like I won’t be hearing anytime soon…:(

@ Godric I might have accidentally misinterpreted my stats but here they are:

Waitlist, Cas Economics

College: 3.92 Cummulative Gpa, 52 credits. 4.0 after 16 credits this semester leading into finals week.

High School: 3.65 UW Gpa, REALLY bad ACT (I think around 26)

I was the case of wasting potential in HS…

I called the financial aid department and just asked if anything was missing. I needed one more document, sent it in, and got a letter of financial aid in a couple days.

they wouldn’t accept people off the waitlist when people are still waiting for a letter of admission/rejection would they?

I hope not, that’d be discouraging for us waiting on our initial letters

I got in!!!

@keloughr,

Congrats!

Are you definitely going?

@incogneato2

But you have nearly two years worth of credits? Shouldn’t that more or less make your highschool record moot?

@keloughr

Congratulations!!! Could you post stats? Congrats again, I wish you the best!

So I e-mailed a different counselor that I’ve been communicating for awhile, in addition to my regular counselor.

I just got a response from him, and he said “a letter was mailed 8/23”. I guess that means I probably got rejected because I’m apparently only expecting a letter, bah…

@crownofthesea, don’t worry too much about “a letter”. My counselor was very neutral about it as well. And did you mean 4/23?

@CrownOftheSea

Yeah, don’t get your hopes down just yet. If it was on 4/23, shouldn’t you receive it by Friday?

yeah absolutely!
4.05 hs GPA
3.57 college GPA
27 ACT
In a very very competitive major with tons of ec’s.
In a sorority
Legacy
Nothing too special

@Keloughr

Thanks so much! How many credits did you have with that GPA?

@surfwakesnow165

Is that an e-mail that you get or something? Cornell, W&M, and UT e-mail to do lists to all applicants. Not sure about Vanderbilt.

Thanks both GodricGryffindor and theclassof2013! I did mean 4/23!, whoops!

I’m just worried because my HS record is terrible compared to those of you that got accepted…although I do have 2+ years worth of college credits too so I’m not sure if that’ll mitigate my HS stuff or not

@CrownOftheSea

That is exactly the reason I ask for stats. I have read a number of stats across these past thousand posts, and I can tell you that it really is a crap-shoot. People have been accepted, wait listed, and denied with those stats.

I believe it comes down to the essay, recs, and interest.

@GodricGryffindor,

I agree. I also think that coming from a 2-year school might also work against me, but who knows.

Hopefully I get the good news, I’m from California so it might take awhile, who knows.

@crownofthesea

My hs grades were nowhere near great.
I had an uw gpa of 3.17, weighted 3.71, and no real ECs.

I got in (hopefully) as a junior. Depends on this whole credit thing Vandy does… (I have 4 credit classes, and I’m afraid they will only take them as 3 credit classes).

Godric is right. I also think interest is the most important thing.
