Vanderbilt University Transfer Thread Fall 2016

hey do you guys know if we can defer our enrollment?? I really want to take a year - at least a semester - off. I messaged my counselor but he hasn’t responded yet.

@KoshJim I may be wrong, but I don’t believe you can typically defer enrollment for Vandy - esp as a transfer

Yesterday my counselor emailed and asked for a missing document. I sent it to her promptly and she has confirmed that she has received it and told me that they can start to review my application. Does it mean that I am going to receive my decision next week? Or at least likely?

@KoshJim If you pay the deposit it should be possible. My boyfriend was accepted ED his senior yr of high school and deferred admission for a year. He said they just wanted to know the reason for deferment and also what he’d be doing during that time. Maybe it’s different for transfers, though.

Has anyone gotten in to Engineering? If so, what type?

I already submitted my deposit but I’m afraid my GPA will undoubtedly drop this semester, and I know my offer of admission is subjective to this semester’s grades. Has anyone seen anything related to this case in any previous threads? I’ve been searching and I haven’t found anything. Not sure reaching out to them and plain asking them would be a good idea. Thoughts? Opinions? To give you an idea, I have a 4.0 GPA and it’s probably gonna go down to a 3.8-3.75 (That means I either get 1 A and 4 B’s or 5 B’s this semester).

@owenrider I was contacted last Wednesday by my counselor about something in a document, I didn’t get a decision last Friday or this Monday and am still waiting.

Does anyone know the next wave of decisions will come tomorrow or Monday?

I have a question: is it possible that our assigned counselors would be the person who will review our materials?

@FutureEconomist Same here. I have a 4.0 from the fall semester but I’m worried that I am going to get a C+ (worst case) to a B in calc. I should be getting an A or A- in my other 4 classes though.

@TransferSzn24 That’s unfortunate man. Best of luck to you. I made up my mind and I will ask my assigned counselor today. I’ll let you know. From what I researched, which is mostly regarding first year admits and not necessarily at Vandy, if you have already been accepted you’ll get a warning letter asking for an explanation, which will be taken into consideration and you will be informed whether they will reconsider your offer of admissions. In either case we will be notified. If you haven’t yet been accepted they will certainly take that into consideration but I believe you still have a good shot if that’s the case. Best of luck.

I paid the deposit last night but still haven’t received anything related to the student portal. Do you guys know when we can apply for housing?

@altonm I’m visiting monday. I don’t think I’ll be admitted anywhere else, so I think I’ll be going here! I’m really excited at what this school has to offer!

@owenrider I did ask, they said no. I’ll probably be confirming my admission soon so it wont be too big of an issue.

@laithshehadeh what did you say for your reason?

@owenrider didn’t give one. Some of the schools I applied to wont get back to me until may. I doubt I’ll be admitted so I’ll count my blessings and accept my admission

Accepted to Peabody- didn’t recieve an email but checked myapp VU!
