@embellishment @fdgjfg @vandy6834 @ilikewatermelon I know this may sound silly… How many transfer student you know assigned a single? My boyfriend will send me to Vandy, but his college would not begin until early September. We are both international students and it is kinda expensive for him to find a place to stay for two weeks.
I know some transfers get singles, but most transfers live in doubles their first year. However, that could be because most people seem to put down a preference for a double on their housing form because they are trying to meet people through having a roommate. So, put down the preference for a single and see what happens; I think there would be a solid chance of getting one. (Although they did just knock down vandy Barnard which had a lot of singles, so it might be harder now. )
If you don’t get a single, you could maybe look for a place for your boyfriend on Airbnb or Craigslist. There’s also a place called scarritt Bennett which is a minimalist hotel for like $50 a night which could be an option.
Like said above, it’s harder for transfers to get singles because Vandy is rebuilding right now. Even in Towers, you don’t get to choose your room within a suite. You’re just randomly assigned.
Agree with the above, especially with Vandy’s housing situation this year.
You won’t be able to get a single at the beginning of the year. If you want one, your best bet is to live in your assigned room for the first couple weeks, request a room change, and then ask for a single. Not 100% sure about this, but I think you’ll need some sort of excuse as to why you want/need to switch to a single.
@fdgjfg @ilikewatermelon @vandy6834 Thank you so much for the comprehensive replies! I will put down a preference for single and at the same time check those websites out.
Hi guys, I applied to CAS but didn’t hear anything back yet. I applied to CAS, East Asian Studies, and I submitted my application in late Feb. All documents were received a couple of days before the deadline. Someone can tell me why it takes so long? I called them many times, but they keep saying that admissions is on rolling basis lol I don’t get it cuz I submitted all documents before the deadline!!! I am an international student, does it matter?
Does anyone know the order of difficulty of individual schools within Vandy to transfer into? I’m going to apply CAS and I’m wondering if that’s one of the easier or harder ones to get into. Thanks!
If anyone on the wait-list has heard back, gotten any updates from their counselors, or heard anything about the wait-list please update the thread with your news! Thanks so much!
@cmartin12 Hey guys I just wanted to give the peeps on the waitlist that I’ll be withdrawing my enrollment. I hope oine of you guys can take my place! BTW does anyone know how to rescind an acceptance? Should I just contact my guidance counselor?
@koshjim I would just call admissions and tell them you want to withdraw. Where are you choosing instead, if you don’t mind my asking?
This was fun guys. Very much looking forward to meet some of you in a few weeks! I’ll need a gym buddy btw if anyone’s interested.
Waitlist is closed. I’m so sad that I won’t be a Dore this fall but I’m so excited to be a Trojan and be on my way to USC! I hope everyone that ends up attending Vanderbilt completely falls in love with it! It truly is an amazing institution and I hope that everyone who unfortunately didn’t get off the Waitlist ends up where they are supposed to be and truly loves whereever they go! Good luck to future transfer applicants and everyone have a great rest of your summer!!!
Has anyone heard back from housing? I haven’t even been told when I will get my room assignment.
@FutureEconomist You should find in your Transfer Orientation Schedule email “on or before the end of the business day of August 10th,” so I assume we’ll surely know later today. However I was expecting some time earlier like Monday or Tuesday… Really do not know what is taking them so long.
