Vanderbilt Wait-Listed Thread

The person who was accepted and posted a couple weeks ago apparently didn’t get one. But last year they did send out one last week of June.

I’m thinking I might call on Monday and see what they say now that the month has ended. It would be interesting to see if they say they are still working on waitlist or if it is wrapping up.

@remytreat - Please tell us what happens, thanks!

@Khalifa727 @Choski94 @deliciousSteak
Okay I just got off the phone with them. She said that there is only one waitlist, so transfers and freshman are combined (which I find strange and I feel like that contradicts other things but that’s what she said multiple times). She couldn’t give me a timeline as to when more would be released, but she did say the last wave has not come out yet so there are a small number of spaces left (she couldn’t give me more info than that). She did also say that they do not necessarily look based on major (for example, if they had less MechE kids SIR than expected, they don’t only look for MechE off of the waitlist) but that they look holistically instead.

To be quite honest, she sounded pretty preoccupied so I couldn’t get a ton of info. At least we know there is still one more wave coming!

@remytreat Thanks for the information! btw it really surprises me that transfer and freshman waitlists are combined…I thought there were two completely different pools before.
Anyway I’m grad to see there are still a number of spots left!

@remytreat - Thanks very much for your effort. My DS just signed his housing contract for his current school so although an acceptance would still be great a rejection wouldn’t hurt as much, either. If that made sense. We will wait until the end. lol

Hey everyone! I got into their engineering school on the 6th of Jully. Needless to say, I instantly accepted! To those who also got off the waitlist, what do you do after paying the matriculation deposit? The portal says wait for two weeks for other instructions but move in is 17th of August and time is flying. How’d you guys apply for housing and search for roommates?

Thanks in advance and good luck to all of you. I sincerely hope to see you there.

Congratulations to you @BVN918! Did they mention how many slots remain and when the waitlist will be closed?

@W8iskillingme Thanks! I did email my counselor, before my acceptance, asking him when the waitlist will close. He said that I’ll get the verdict soon because they’re at the end of the process. As for remaining slots, I have no idea.

@BNV918 My D18 will be there in the Fall as well but as a 1st year. There are several Facebook pages you can join to find a roommate and learn more about housing or at least get to know other transfers. Go search there for Vanderbilt Transfer Students Fall 2018 (I would share the link but I think that is not allowed) And congratulations!

@ASKMother, thanks! BTW I’m also abfirst year student

@BNV918 my mistake! I thought this was the transfers thread… so many waiting to hear!

You need to join the Vanderbilt Class of 2022 Facebook page then! Such great information coming across there from the admins, as well as little introductions from students - get to see some faces before move-in on the 18th! Also tell your parents to join the “Vanderbilt Class of 2022-Parents Only” page and they can see and meet other freshman parents and get questions asked (super nice people… you and they are going to LOVE the Vandy community!). AND join the regular ‘Vanderbilt University Parents’ page because you can ask questions to the veteran parents there! (yes, Facebook is for ‘old’ people but get use to using it because you are an adult now!

And one last one… look for the Ingrams Commons at Vanderbilt facebook page. It will have great freshman housing and some dining activities and just random 1st year info. Roommate selection has past and assignments come out August 1st for dorms and people who went random for roommates. There is a deadline July 15th to send in a photo for your Commodore Card and to set the amount of ‘extra’ funds you want on there for laundry and printing and just spending (this is in addition to your dining plan!)

The Vanderbilt website is a wealth of information and very well updated! you can find pretty much ANY answer to a question there! BTW my D18 is a Chemistry major in Peabody! Congratulations again! Anchor Down!

Does anyone else see that the waitlist is now closed on their MyAppVU portal?

I just got an email about 8 mins ago, they closed the waitlist.

Congratulations everybody who was accepted! As for the ones like me who weren’t accepted, remember that it’s not where you go, it’s who you are. There are plenty of opportunities at so many great colleges across the country. You’ll do great! Just being on the waitlist alone means you’re incredibly talented and show outstanding potential. Good luck!

(Asking for a friend): is anyone still on the waitlist or was it closed for everyone?
