Them not being over isnt guaranteed ngl. I’ve started to not believe anymore
My son got off the waitlist last Friday. He applied for the school of engineering and is from California. The process went as below:
-
An email was received around Friday noon, asking if he’s interested in receiving an offer of admission. If yes, he had about two days to click a button on Application tab of MyVU to confirm.
-
Once confirmed, the portal immediately displayed a congratulations page and the offer letter, for which there would be 72 hours to accept or deny. And he accepted it.
In terms actions, I believe he emailed the AO two or three times after the intial LOCI, with updates around his course works, extracurricular activities, sports, student leadership etc - nothing major, just to describe continued and persistent efforts in those areas. I believe his high school’s college counselor also called the AO to testify for his academic strength, the authenticity of his effort and community contribution.
No doubt this has been a very stressful process. Hope the above information is somewhat helpful for those of you who are anxiously waiting.
any news?
I believe its over🥲
It’s not over. They said they’d inform us when they are closing the waitlist.
It’s not over they send, they will continue in the summer. They may be busy due to graduations and the semester ending.
Will they at least reject us from the waitlist?
I’d give up by now, it’s july
I think there is a very slim chance that an applicant would even accept a spot at this point. Hopefully they love where they’re at. Dragging a WL out to July is obnoxious and presumptuous. Maybe a HYP…but Vanderbilt isn’t that…even though for some reason they think they are. Good luck all.
Why should HYP get a pass for obnoxious behavior? For the record, schools don’t really control the WL process. It’s dependent on the actions of the admitted students. The sooner everyone commits the sooner the WL closes. The more indecision and ship jumping the longer it takes to finalize the class. There are kids who commit and yet don’t show up in August .
I wasn’t suggesting HYP should get a pass, but they can get away with it. My kid would not jump to Vandy at this point, but a month ago she probably would. If she was on a HYP WL, she would consider it. She is still on an Ivy WL, but probably wouldn’t jump there either at this point. I just don’t understand why Vandy and its ilk think they are so damn special that they can keep these kids hanging. It’s just wrong.
Anyone can drop from the waitlist if they so choose.
Anyway lets get back on topic which is to address any movement on the Vandy waitlist.
got in yesterday— college of engineering
how many LOCIs did you send?
i sent one after being waitlisted (around april 15th), and then another in mid-june, and a final one around june 25th
nice, congrats on getting in! odds are unlikely for another wave, but let’s hope for the best
