Vanderbilt Waitlist Financial Aid

Hey guys! I just have a quick question regarding how you can find out about your financial aid package after you have been accepted off the waitlist.

When I opened my MyVUApp portal today and clicked on the financial aid tab, it appears that they have only received my CSS profile and Valid Federal Application Data but NOT my Student 2013 Tax Ret/NonFiler and Parent 2013 Tax Return. Underneath that it said "If you are accepted for admission, you will receive a separate email from the IDOC Service, providing instructions on how to submit 2013 parent and student federal tax forms and/or non-filer forms." So I'm just a little confused since I have already submitted the Parent tax return form through FAFSA or is this a totally different thing that I have to do through IDOC? Also, I have already submitted my IDOC documents and received the confirmation email back in March, however, when I signed in to my IDOC page, Vanderbilt was not listed as a university in the list of colleges that require my information.

lol, im sorry if this is really confusing. I tried to explain it as clearly as possible, but I'm honestly really confused myself. So should I just wait for an email from IDOC or what should i do??

Thanks so much guys!

Our son was accepted back at the end of March, but the process should be the same for someone coming off the waitlist. Several months before he was accepted, we had filed IDOC for some schools, but Vandy was not on the list. Since his acceptance, we have heard nothing further from IDOC, but our son’s Vandy webpage shows that the tax returns have been received. Thus, I surmise that after Vandy accepted our son, they contacted the IDOC people, who forwarded the tax stuff to Vandy.

So it is likely you will not hear anything from IDOC about your tax returns. The language on their webpage saying you will receive an email from IDOC is for those students who have not previously been contacted by IDOC for other schools.

For our son, I am pretty sure that they made the financial aid offer before they had even requested the tax docs from IDOC. After making a financial aid offer, they then confirm the numbers on the CSS with the docs from IDOC. So you probably will get the offer, then at some time in the next month or so Vandy will get the docs from IDOC and confirm your numbers. If the numbers match, you will hear nothing from Vandy.

So nothing for you to do, I would say. If Vandy or IDOC wants anything from you, I am sure they will contact you.

Vandy doesn’t get your tax return from IDOC unless you’ve been admitted. Wait awhile and then log back into the portal. My financial aid showed up the next day after my offer of admission came up.
