Vandy interview weight?

How much do they look at your interview? I'm applying RD, and mine is tomorrow (so yeah, I'm miles ahead of the deadline, trying to get one of nine out of the way, lol) and while I'm not worried at all (interviews have never bothered me at all) I'm just curious as to if it will have any significant impact on my chances of admission.

If you are borderline in getting into Vandy then it could put you over the edge. If you are close to qualifying for a scholarship it could put you over the edge. IF you feel that you are pretty solid then just enjoy the experience. Good luck. Is it important yes on a one to ten scale with grades and SAT being a 10 then the interview is about a 2 along with legacies.

so i turned in my ed1 app yesterday....when can we expect an email about the interviiw? are they usually during school? lol just curious

My D sent in her application on Monday. She received an e-mail today with information on how, when and where to set up an alumni interview.

i just requested an interview. What type of questions will be asked?

how do you request an interview?

Ok, so the Vanderbilt interview is different from most others it seems. I got there and she was basically like "I have a list of questions, and this interview could either help or hurt you. I've had kids I've written bad reviews for that didn't get it that were borderline, and good reviews that have gotten borderline kids in." Basically she asked me a lot about what I've done and stuff, as well a crapload about what I knew about the school itself. -What can Vanderbilt do for you? -What can you contribute to Vanderbilt's community? Questions like that.

Lasted an hour and 45 minutes... goodness it was long.

Unlike the other interviews I've had that were very casual and just mainly conversation based, this one was fairly intense. I wish I had prepared for it. haha.

I'm not surprised that she asked you a lot about the school itself. None of the alumni I've met have been very pleased with the direction Vanderbilt has taken in simply admitting kids based on stats instead of "fit" as well; apparently that includes the ones that volunteer for interviews.
