Varsity Sport

Hi, my school is the top school in the state for tennis, we have won the state championship for over five years in a row. I go to a public school. Our team is very competitive and only very good players get to start in the top 6. By junior year I should start in the top 6. (only top 6 actually play games) Are there any college benefits to starting in the top 6? Will colleges see that I started in the top 6 and will that make me a very appealing candidate? Would starting in top 6 be a hook?

Thanks

I think there’s a tennis thread here on CC. You might get more expert guidance there.

In general, unless you are a recruited athlete, a sport is counted as an EC for college admission purposes. It is not a hook unless you are good enough to be recruited for a college tennis team.

If you are interested in playing in college, start contacting college coaches.

If you are interested in playing in college, what’s your national ranking? I agree that you should be speaking with your coaches YESTERDAY. Also look over this http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/athletic-recruits/
