Vassar Class of 2021

@AllyssXx I’m so sorry! I know how you feel :frowning:
So, where do you plan to go finally?

accepted. how does one get added to the Facebook page?

@Coco20212111 just send in a request(the button is somewhere on the facebook page). They have a list with all the admitted students. If your facebook name tallies with one on the list, you’re in.

Accepted! To all of you who are worried about stats, seriously, DO NOT WORRY TOO MUCH!!!
I was rejected at Connecticut College and Gettysburg, along with other schools with an acceptance rate higher than 25%. So far, I’ve been accepted into USC and Vassar.

ACT: 33
AP’s: only 3 (Bio, US History, World History, got a 3 in Bio, 4 in the others)
GPA (UW): 3.87
Essays: mediocre
EC’s: nothing insane, I did do an internship where I tried to lobby for a bill against North Korea in Congress. a few park cleanups here and there.
Letters of rec. : idk tbh, probably very vague, since I recently moved and my counselors don’t know me that well.

As you can see, I should have been accepted into schools like Connecticut, but not Vassar or USC. I’m very average for the latter schools, but I was accepted nonetheless. Don’t worry too much about the percentages; each individual school will determine whether you are a good fit for them or not. This is a bit cliche, but a rejection is truly not a reflection of your accomplishments. It just means that school did not think you will fit with them. Good luck to you all

That’s a tad harsh. Unfortunately, Vassar, as with most top LACs, receives far more applications from students who would be a great fit than they can accept. Vassar could fill an entire class from those who were not admitted that, for all intents and purposes, would be indistinguishable from the admitted class. The year my daughter was admitted, I was shocked that some her unbelievably gifted and wonderful classmates were rejected.

v v dumb question but i haven’t been added to the facebook page and other people have more recently does anyone know the deal

@intstudent2021 I’m going to call everything I can find to get enough money for BU.

@CrewDad Ah, I did not mean this in a condescending way. I’m sorry if it came off like that lol…I was just saying that the “ranking” or the “quality” of the school isn’t as important as where you’re best fit would be.

@AllyssXx could you dm me? I don’t know how to fund a BU edu :frowning: but that’s my only hope rn

@intstudent2021 Well, after all my government aids and scholarship orginazations that I’ve called, I’m still left with a €10.000 gap and idk how to fund it, so I’m going to call the BU FA office tonight. Not gonna give up yet!

Adding daughter’s stats to help future students. Accepted yesterday—great excitement after a tough few weeks of
waitlists & rejections.

Very important, imo, is to state where you are applying from, sex, whether URM or 1st gen, all of which greatly affect acceptance rates to these small LACs.
Rejected Amherst, Williams, Wesleyan. Waitlisted: Middlebury, Bowdoin, Oberlin, Kenyon, Skidmore
Accepted: Vassar, Hamilton, U Richmond, and both Grinnell & Macalester with merit aid.

Female, white, large NYC public school – specialized, but not Stuy  Not ranked, but top 20%.
ACT 35 (36R, 35W, 33M, 35S & 26 Essay)
96.7 GPA weighted (school only does weighted)
AP Capstone 4, AP USH 5, AP Psych 5, AP Eng Comp 4
Senior year: AP Eng Lit, AP Gov’t, AP Comp Gov’t, precalc, forensics, law classes
Won 3 Scholastic silver keys and one gold for fiction & two NYC Jewish Heritage essay prizes for NYC (1st & 2nd). Essay stressed love of writing. Recs should be ok, maybe not so in depth as school is enormous.
Soccer team vice captain, school holiday volunteer work at soccer camp, summer work on a farm.
Possible negatives: W, F, NYC, not much of the beloved “leadership”, no school clubs, or year long commitments, no advanced math or science. I guess someone likes writers.

Good luck to everyone.

@AllyssXx I was thinking of calling them up as well. I don’t know what to say though. I keep feeling like they would just repeat the fact that I simply haven’t got any scholarships and since they don’t have FA for Internationals, they can’t do anything about it.
Damn I don’t know what to do anymore!

@intstudent2021 Well, I’m about to call them right now so I’ll tell you how it goes!

@AllyssXx as expected…she told me that there is nothing they can do about it and I’ll have to just look for outside scholarships. ugh I have never been sadder though this whole process

@intstudent2021 Told me the exact same thing :frowning: Dickinson 2021 it is!

I was rejected, but it’s totally okay. This whole college game is a chance. I was accepted at Cornell (they released their admission to me earlier so that I can attend diversity weekend), but rejected at sooo many other schools. So when I look at this, I see that a rejection or an acceptance is not indicative of what you can or cannot do.

Accepted, but received no financial aid whatsoever. Sad to say Vassar is a less likely option now :frowning: Congrats to those accepted and to those who weren’t, you’ll be super successful at whichever school you end up at, trust me!

Accepted, but FA woefully short and not in line with other offers.

@AllyssXx oh! Well FDU is a good one too! Best of luck to you!
