This waiting is becoming physically painful.

WHOAKAY. Who got an invite from Vassar for their online chat tomorrow?

I DID. I was so excited. Unfortuantely I can’t be part of it, because I’m flying to Virginia to compete in a speech tournament.

Same. I have rehearsal until 5.30pm and I won’t get home until 6pm. And I’m 3 hours behind so the earliest I’ll be able to participate is 9pm…

I wonder how it works. The cats, I mean.

My guidance counselor emailed me today and told me Vassar contacted her but she wouldn’t say what it’s about. Has this happened to anyone else? Does it have to do with first quarter grades?

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE.

I am a freshman this year, and I can say that you will not regret coming to Vassar.
I applied ED1 to the class of 2013.
And now I’m here. You will love it.

Also, my previous post: *chats. I saw it I was like, “What about ‘cats’?”

Thanks, nmatth! Dude, how’s your freshman year been so far? Semester ends next week right?

And tanabelle, nope, I saw my counselor today and she didn’t mention anything and we specifically spoke about Vassar. Whose counselor was contacted, as well?

didnt get invited to any chats…should I be worried…

Cllgecrazy1020, I don’t think so. I think it’s more for prospies or for anyone who’s on the Vassar mailing list. Check your email inbox, or your spam folder. Sometimes things get lost in there from colleges.

I’m in both of those categories…nothing in spam…ahhh!

Check on the website? Maybe there’s a link to an invite.

I know you receive a chat invite if you’re on the mailing list, so make sure you are.
I’m really worried about this counselor thing. I mean, obviously they aren’t going to call my counselor to tell her I’ve been rejected thirteen days before decision goes out, but I can’t figure out what they’d want. And I feel like it’s something bad.

It could be something good too though. Like, they want to look into you more, maybe? I know my one of my teacher recs wrote to call him if they wanted to talk about me.

I didn’t get an invite either! How do you get on their mailing
list? Also, Vassar has not contacted my counselor. I am
getting worried.

Let us know how the chat went and what it was about…

On the Vassar website, you can go to Contact Admissions, and there’s actually a section entitled “Chats.” Go there, sign up, and that’ll put you on the mailing list if you’re not already on it. That’ll make sure you get e-mails about this chat as well as the one in April (if we get accepted!). :)

Hi,I signed up and immediatly received and chat invite. However,
the time difference in NY makes it impossible to attend. Will they
hold this against you in any way? Also, it looks like the admission
officers are part of the chat. Do you think anything said during the
chat is taken into acoount toward your acceptance?

I think it’s better not to attend now, maybe in April.

I found out today that it was about first quarter grades for sure. She said they were really positive about me on the phone, so that’s good! But I think the reason they’re concerned with my progress this year is because my GPA is the weakest part of my application and maybe they want to see if I’ve made some improvements.

lillykiahming, I wouldn’t worry about it. I think it’s just another opportunity for students to learn more about the school. Everyone on the mailing list probably received the e-mail, so unlike the one in April, this one deals with everyone that has an interest in the school. Maybe they’ll ask for names of students who applied just to know who was on, but I really doubt it. Don’t worry, I’m sure it’s just an optional thing! :]

Matt - YAY, it’s good to hear they sounded positive! I think I’m going to go check in with my guidance counselor tomorrow just to see if she’s been contacted or anything, it seems like most of them have.

Is the one in April for admitted students?

Oh yeah, if you guys have facebooks, PM me so we can all stay in touch and hopefully be together at school next year!!

Thanks for mentioning the chats…I didn’t get an email either (and totally freaked out for a minute), but there is a link that you can click on the admissions page. I wrote down my address when I visited have been getting mail, so I thought that I was on their mailing list, but when I clicked the link it says, ‘thank you for adding your address to our mailing list,’ so I think that that is how they got ahold of people. Yay!
